You speak from my soul. 50% price increase vs predecessor X-T30II is insane for this type of camera. Latest prices on camera store from today: X-T5 € 1.649,- vs X-T50 € 1.520,-. And going for X-T50 you loose weather resistancy, dual card slots and you get lower burst rates, garbage battery, worse EVF and this funky FS-Dial that nobody wants.

I sold my fujifilm x-t5 camera. I bought X-T50. A built-in flash, 100 grams of weight, and a smaller size were the features I wanted. I don't care about dual card slots. Small battery is no problem for me. I have a few spares. I've never taken enough photos in a day to drain a battery. Those who criticize the machine are people who have never owned it and used it. Fuji made the machine I've been waiting for years. Thanks

I agree with you and I'll stick to the X-T5 but if I wasn't a pro photographer I'd probably love the X-T50 and this is probably Fuji's goal: propose a very capable camera, compact and light, for amateur photographers or people who want to keep it simple and fun. In other words a super powerful and capable compact camera. Anyway thanks for sharing!

Great review Tudor, I share very similar views. I was very excited about this release and it turned into disappointment. I tried the XT50 last week, great ergonomics. But aside from that there is not a material difference with the XT30ii, so I'm keeping it. A better LCD, better EVF, better battery, ISO dial, any of those would have been a better improvement than the ridiculous FS dial. The new camera is designed to bring new users to the Fuji system, but no so much for the current ones.

  • @Tudor_Mateescu

    1. Exactly how Q button works on X-PRO3 - just image quality controls preset per recipe / per assigned slot (no AF type, shutter type how are implemented from X-T4 to X-T5 making the software hard to use). 2. It depends on what focal length you want to shoot - easy answer any lens will produce very good results. The starter lens should be 23mm f2 or 35mm f2 (my favorite for starting a Fujifilm kit).

Hard choice. That small zoom is possible not to resolve the 40mp sensor. I don't know for sure. But if you have the money I would go for x-t50 It's definitely a better camera in the long run. But that zoom will not help you much... You need to add other lenses. If you don't want to add other lenses or better zooms I would go with x-t30 with 18-55.

I don’t mind spending money on getting something good but I am new with no real experience so I know there is a limit to what I can do with lack of skill (I don’t need a $4,000 camera because I am not skilled enough to need it). A wheel that is useless if you can't save your own settings, a ridiculous EVF, the old battery, an SD card slot under the device,...For wealthy amateurs who will have no use for 40 million pixels , especially with a kit lens that opens between 2.8 and 4.8 (i.e. 4.2 and 7.2 full-frame equivalent). Instead of releasing new models all the time Fujfilm would do better to be able to produce the X100VI in sufficient numbers to avoid the "scalpers". They will keep X-T30II because they are afraid the X-T50 sales will be bad. :) About the only place I hear people praising the new X-T50 is on KZread. :) If you try to get the REAL, HONEST opinions on the ground, this camera has been trashed many times all over. For those who are here, let me summarize 2 BIG reasons why you SHOULD NOT get the X-T50: It's way overpriced; the silly film simulation dial is wasting precious real estate on the camera. Note that you CANNOT store any custom colors of your own. Fujifilm perhaps got all arrogant or didn't do their homework properly on this X-T50. I'd be patiently waiting for the X-T60 and see what they will do. I'm pretty sure they will remove that darn film simulation dial. For those serious about photography, pay just a few hundred $ more to get the awesome X-T5. It is more robust and has better features than this X-T50. If you just want to use a lightweight camera for semi-serious or travel shoots, get the X-T30II. You get better value for money. Skip this crazy X-T50 unless you've got a lot of spare cash to burn. Oh yes, and stop watching KZread videos on the X-T50. Chances are, they are filled with false advertising or impressions as many of the people presenting it have affiliations with Fujifilm.

Nobody asked for this. We need new small lens like 18 f2 wr, x80, xpro4 (made in japan ffs). I love my xt5 but built quality is just rubbish! This is not acceptable

@@ragavsathis well. Dials can get sticky (i had two different bodies and for one I got the whole dial panel replaced under warranty) also the EVf coating can be removed easily. This is not acceptable at this price range and we must declare to Fuji that we will not accept it. Otherwise xt5 is extremely capable camera. What we want is durabíity of old made in japan bodies with new senzor/sw capabilities
