With the fd 50mm f/1.4 on my gfx 50r, the lens doesnt completely cover the sensor. If I stop down to say f/4 or more, there is a hard vignette. You can totally see the light circle doesnt reach the edges. If you stop down with the 85, do you have the same problem?

For the Pentax 67 I was using a Kipon Beveyes focal reducer adapter which I still have but am contemplating selling off as I do not use it currently.

Nice video. I have the GFX and 110mm and love it. I also have the 85L leftover from my Canon days. Maybe I should try it on the GFX.

@@cmolina31 Compared to 5dmk/85L I do like the GFX/110mm f2 more. For some reason I can get hand hold GFX/110mm combo at 1/125 where for 5dmk3 I had to shoot at 1/200 if not 1/250.

It’s more of large format look. I love using my 85mm 1.2 on gfx 50s. Gives about f/0.8-0.9, like a large format

Aram Ayazyan thank you! Very slight vignette but is easily corrected in post. Definitely not a hard vignette at all.

thank you for sharing Joe, I'm waiting my second hand GFX50s to be delivered next week and the look of your images is the one I'm looking for. I am also considering the Canon 50 1.2 L39 lens, was able to play with her 0.95 sister on a FF sensor and the results are great (even tough setting the focus is not easy ;-) From what I can understand 50mm lenses can create more vignetting compared to 85mm: can you confirm that? Also have you ever tried the 50 1.2 L39 on the GFX? Again, thank you so much! Ugo

How is this lens compare EF 85 1.2 on GFX？

k Ho From what I’ve seen sharpness, color rendition and bokeh have been similar. They both have significant weight to them. The FD introduces more flare but that’s to be expected. Obviously the big difference is AF on the EF85mm when using a smart adapter. That’s always nice and my hit rate especially at f/1.2 is a lot better.

Corey S. Vaughn Hello Corey. Thanks for checking in. The Contax Zeiss 85mm is smaller and lighter but I love the Canon rendition on their 85mm. Beautifully smooth focus. Lately I’ve been using the Techart AF adapter with the Canon EF 85mm and it’s been amazing. I’ll have a video up about that one soon.

singhanagat I would know off the top of my head. You would need to check the adapter selection to see if the make your body style mount with a Canon FD Mount.

singhanagat I would check with Fotodiox. See if they make a mount for the system your currently using that adapts to the systems glass you would like to adapt.

andrew nichols well for starters the EF version is able to auto focus so you will need a smart adapter like the Kipon or Techart to access AF as well as aperture changes. FD is all manual.
