    Interesting video.. Thanks for sharing. I take everybody's KZread opinion on gear with a grain of salt. You know what I do ? I listen to and trust MY gut instinct...and then I make a decision. A decision to purchase something, and then go outside and shoot with it. No talking in the comments, no opinions staying in limbo, no NON-BUYING and just yapping, I see it...I get it...I shoot it. I tuned out all the hoopla and buzz and noise and hate, saw something(s) in the S9 that I personally like and work for ME, and I'm outside with it. And TBH it's been great, some of the most fun I've had shooting a camera in a LONG time. Nobody made that happen for me, not YT, not Gerald, nobody lol. And I think that's what we need to get back to. Trusting our own instinct and standing on our own two feet. And if we do wanna let an opinion nudge us or steer us away from something, make sure that opinion is worth something.. An opinion from someone who is really outside shooting, and not just behind a desk or at a table with a light.

    Christ this has been a problem since 2009, its funny how people act like "oh its a problem now, oh finally someone talked about it" LOL, God I miss the good old DPReview and DigitalRev, at least they had hair on their balls back then.

    Yep. As of late the fan boy base over at DPReview forums falls in line with the manufacturers. Heaven forbid someone point out an issue and you are then attacked as "not knowing how to use your gear" or "user error", etc... If something sucks or is stupid so be it.

    It seems to me that manufacturers and youtube reviewers underestimate the ability of customers and viewers to exercise discernment and good judgement when evaluating what they watch and buy. There is a lot of word of mouth honest critique by those customers and users also if one seeks it out.

    An honest and critical review will assess the over all value proposition. If you look at DP Reviews, at the end of the review they will always list similar level cameras in the price range and sometimes say the camera from another brand offers better value. These influencers were defending themselves by saying they mentioned the flaws, that's not enough, the real question does the camera offer the best value for meeting the needs of the user. Credit to one KZreadr Hugh Brownstone that named 6 alternatives including a used camera. Many of the reviews mentioned another Panasonic camera as an alternative, hello..........we see what you did there..... One young reviewer said the S9 was a great affordable option for beginners, in no universe is $2,000 with a lens an affordable option for a beginner.....that's pure sales when you try to convince the prospect that your product is the best solution to their problem......

    The KZread problem has been here for years now when it comes to camera KZreadrs. Soon as camera KZreadrs become influencers that's when they become sellers. The content become a person just talking to the camera about gear instead of them showing how they used the gear. They became the product. Spend more times getting thier looks rights then actually using the gear they want to to review. Creative content is slowly fading and the look at me content has taken over .

    Some of us did not know they were taking trips on the company’s dime. Regardless of any feelings against Gerald once he pointed out that people were losing access to future cameras it became all too clear you could no longer trust said reviewer. In my mind Gerald is not above that criteria but understanding what he exposed changes a lot for me and my subscription list. My anger at certain reviewers is truthfully due to getting burned by these shill reviews. This video is great thank you for just being honest and talking to us straight. Many of these people who got exposed are now dancing around it , trying to misdirect what it really is. I will not be surprised if we start now getting the same old apologist themed videos when it’s clear the truth hurt.

    The funny thing is that this Lumix S9 probably is a "gamechanger" in many ways not just in what they did with the camera but the whole hype of all of this. I hope it makes people look at Lumix cameras. They seem to be very underrated. The S5II is an excellent camera.

    Ive seen Geralds video. To me, it came off as vindictive to me. I love his channel, but his review reminded me of the ex-bf breaking up with the ex-gf and then dishing drama on social media. I didnt see the need for it. I own both Sony and Panasonic cameras so there is no bias in what Im saying. He had a choice and turned the trip. And it wouldnt surprise me if Sony gave him a kickback for dissing Panasonic because of the massive release that Lumix pitched. Whatever the case, Panasonic is now the most talked about camera band of the year so far and Sony isnt because of videos like this one. Drama breeds drama and it seems its what you all want. Whatever happened to just enjoying a camera???

    Exactly my thoughts. Especially the part where Gerald said he was told he wouldnt like the S9, and then Gerald said and they were right. He said it in such a snarky way that it came off as bitter. Of course they were right, wasnt that their point? It was almost like he couldnt help but also sneak in a shot on the camera and not just the situation too. It was also insanely naive of him to say Sony has no issues with his reviews, when they're all remarkably pro Sony and he likely has sold literally millions of dollars of equipment. Ultimately, he has no idea who Sony cuts off on their fringes, and doesnt seem like he'd be bothered to find out. As long as he's in.

    This camera has only one truly good feature which is the open gate recording. Every other aspect of the camera is terrible or on par with its competitors. I’ve seen the same reviewers who say how baffling recording limits are in 2022-present day is baffling, only to then completely gloss over the recording limits for the S9. IMO this camera is more comparable to smartphones if you ignore the open gate recording. It’s perfect for nobody because it’s use case is so specific to short form media creators who… would benefit more from a good phone camera…. Which they already have…..

    I don’t think there’s any problem with the situation around the Lumix S9. Why? because this is one of the first times we are in a modern era with Lumix, usually known for making cameras destined to professionals, now catering to… let’s say the mainstream. And now what we’re seeing is professionals being upset that a new camera that isn’t for them doesn’t fit their needs. It feels like those professionals were expecting the S9 to be more akin to the S5II while costing less, and that is simply not possible. I feel like if Panasonic wanted to make a no compromise compact version of the S5 they would’ve named it something with S5 in it, the S9 is another product and a new kind of product that is not aimed at professionals. So of course, when those creators were invited to Japan to talk about this camera, what Panasonic wants is for people to be aware of its existence and the best way to do that is to invite content creators/influencers to talk about it. But I guess they weren’t expecting them to project their professional mindset onto that camera and end up confused. In my opinion as an amateur photographer, the S9 is fine, and I’m looking forward to see more videos on it so that I can decide if it’s a good candidate to replace my Fuji X100T. That’s my take.

    8:57 please allow me to disagree! Viewers are the problem! People don’t want to spend time doing their own research. People want instant gratification. On KZread you’ll hear everywhere productivity this or productivity that, and too many are buying in it. It’s your money, your choice then why should it someone else to take the blame for your choice (generally the bad one)? Why aren’t people going in the camera store, touch the camera, feel by themselves, take the time to read the manual, and more importantly practice to learn the gear? No camera or gear for the matter is perfect. And no gear will ever be perfect. They are all tools design for a specific functions and demographic (particular group of users). Why all camera coming out should be for you, your needs, your workflow, etc…? Why if a camera doesn’t have the features you need or are looking for, it’s a bad camera? I’ve heard a guy reviewing the S9 for professional wedding filmmakers as himself he is a wedding professional filmmaker! Have this camera be built for this segments of user? Obviously not! It’s like a computer technician reviewing a spoon and saying this spoon is bad because I cannot fix my customer computer with it!

  • @jeanchindeko5477
    @jeanchindeko5477Ай бұрын

    Why should KZreadr be the bad guys here? Why is it all time someone else fault, someone else to take the blame? Why isn’t it the viewers fault? Me, you and everyone else making buying decisions based on KZread videos? The whole system is build for one and one thing: make Google make more money! And even this drama will contribute to help KZread make more money. KZread is free because we viewers are the products on that platform! If you pay KZread subscription then you’re buying Google products and are less a product yourself. People might be seeing your work and KZread channel and might not consider it as valuable enough for them (no offence), so the real question you should ask as a KZreadr is how much values am I bringing for the growth of those actors in the camera industry? And that doesn’t mean you’re doing a bad job, or your content mediocre, just for them there is not much value there to help them grow their business! (Again no offence)

  • @jeanchindeko5477
    @jeanchindeko5477Ай бұрын

    The issue here is more profound. There are so many parties in play here: pro KZreadr, fan boy, influencers, camera company, small KZreadr and all the viewer who think KZreadrs owns them anything in the first place! And all those groups of peoples have their own interest. Camera manufacturers want people to say nice things of their products, this have all time been and will all time be and it’s called marketing. Pro KZreadrs have bills to pay, fan boys have their preferred brand to protect like if they were in religion or politics, and viewers are getting lazy! All this drama is fun to watch but will not solve this problem as it’s the whole system which need to be reviewed, and no one want to do that, attack the beast which is social media with all those actors.

    I don't quite understand this narrative that all people who go to these events are shills (intentional or not) - *especially* after the S9 reviews. Did you not see What Camera Conspiracies, PetaPixel, and some other youtubers said about the camera? You know, those that weren't already affiliated with Lumix and/or aren't a camera store? They are still getting invited to these events. Kai wasn't particularly happy about the camera either. And those that were almost all shared the same sentiment Gerald expressed in his review of the ZV-1f. It's good for some use cases only. Gerald didn't "expose" anything. Release parties and giving/lending review samples are a well known phenomenon across several industries - have been for many years. Cameras, cars, phones, PC hardware, all sorts of gadgets. And it *was* spoken about. Every time it happened I think. What seems to have happened is that Gerald just used this well known problem to rant about a company he has a beef with and make unfounded and/or nonsensical allegations against it, whilst also slipping in a bit of rooting for his favourite company. All the while (intentionally or not, that's not important because it was entirely predictable) sending hordes of trolls on the channels of other camera gear reviewers.

    New to your channel. I think you are mostly right except that I am probably a Lumix fanboy and am sad this may affect the sales of Lumix here in Philippines where it is already a declining brand. I would have rather seen someone, anyone call out some of the other horrible gear pushed on us by disingenuous KZreadrs over the years. All I ever see is KZreadrs patting each other on the back when they are all basically shilling for camera companies.
