In my 50 years of photography I have never seen a better value lens. Lightwieght, extremely sharp, image stabilization is insane. Can shoot 1/15 at 230 mm with no problem.

I couldn't agree more. I got rid of my XF18-135 WR, and with the money I got the XC16-50 and XC 50-230 and find the XC easily on par with the XF, much lighter for everyday shooting.

Disagree. Although it's decent the images are soft beyond 150 mm range.

@@underageguru Everyone of course has different expectations but again for many many photographers this extremely light weight lens can be gotton new for 300 dollars, used in excellent condition for 250 dollars. I just want people to understand that given the alternatives you can get some amazing results for such a convenient inexpensive and light lens. Depending on the camera and its high ISO capabilities you cant beat the value. Or you can spend 1600 dollars for the massively heavy 50-140 lF 2.8 which of course is an excellent lens . I am not trying to just dispute but I would hate for many seasoned photographers to at least consider it. I have taken hundreds of photos and prefer it to many other lenses especially when I want to travel light. I respect your opinion just think one should consider it at least.

@@radley9 i got this one new in malaysia for 165 brand new in box! All i need is a good enough lens for travel, primary to shoot mountains and stuff 50-100mm away. I am pleased with the results, cant believe how small the lens is

Exactly. Optics are just as good; the more expensive lenses are built tougher and have faster f/stops but are all about as sharp. Thanks!

As i happen to own both, I've compared it with the 55-200. The images are so much the same. Of course the feeling, the aperture and ergonomics in general are in favour of the 55 200 But when do i really use those ? And who care about the gear when looking to a final print ?

This would be the most positive review I've seen of this lens, but the worst I've seen has it as not quite as sharp as the more expensive lenses. The only criticism seems to be that it looks cheap.

Ace video! So would this lens be as good for landscape as the 50-200? Obviously the speed isn't a factor but the image quality and sharpness is.

Yes, all lenses today pretty much look the same 99.9% of the time - unless you're taking boring pictures of test targets.

This "Kit Lens" came with my X-T20. I suspected it would be garbage, and I would use it as a paper weight or a door stop. Man was I wrong, this thing kicks ass. Lens Badassery. One of my main "go to" lenses for telephoto work.

People forget how it was in the past , in the 80’s 1600 iso was extreme, no OIS so your f2.8 at 1600 iso required a steady hand at 1/30 Today your modern sensors do a better job at 12,800 making your f8 at 1/15 with OIS a breeze.

Exactly. When I got a photo barely to come out taken on a sailboat by moonlight with ASA 1,600 film in the 80s I was in it. Today, iPhone nails it.

Fuji cameras aren’t good for wildlife; they don’t track focus very well, and this lens isn’t very fast either.

Yes. Works great. Most people who spend the money for the xt3 do so because it’s a tough metal camera. The 50-230 is a dinky plastic lens.

I bought the version ii of this lens after seeing this vieo. Super sharp in good light. Price was $179 Australian dollars. What a bargain.

Just got the X-T3 with the 18-55mm, I think in the right light I'm getting better performance out of the 50-230mm.

This lens is easily the best value Fuji lens ever. I use it for harness racing and it’s brilliant. I paid $299 in Singapore airport and found it for $199 back home in Australia 😡. I probably wouldn’t have bought it at that price because how good can a super zoom be for $199? Answer. Outstanding

Just don’t drop it and you’re good. It’s not 1978 anymore; all the optics are good and the difference is durability - and even if you have to replace one or two you’re still ahead! Thanks!

Is the full-frame vs crop sensor argument dying as the sensor density is converging?

Died years ago. Biggest difference between formats is depth of field. SLRs had different sized finders, but with Mirrorless even that goes away.

I am looking for Canon rebel t6 lenses that are from 75 to 300 zoom any advice on where to get some and a lense case for them?

Cases are more personal, honestly a tube sock works great at protecting them for travel.
