    As of today, the Tone King Iron Man II 100 Watt attenuator is ~ $795 and the Power Station 50 Watt version is ~ $799 (USD). Seeing as the Power Station does everything the Iron Man II does and also has a very solid power amp, it seems like a no-brainer to me.

    It's admittedly subjective... but as an *attenuator*, I prefer the Tone King Ironman II (I have that and the Fryette PS-2 and PS-100). The Fryette is much more useful as a power amp/effects loop though.

    You never have to retube and bias an Ironman. Tubes degrade over time too. They are both very good units, just having some different pluses and minuses.

I also dug out my old ART SGX express.. perhaps I will run that through the PS2 also.. do those modules need to be plugged in to the Randall or synergy heads to work or stand alone with power cable?..also.. how best to use IR loader with the PS2.. best and lowest cost?..I'm new to the digital world.. cheers..!!

    So i got a PS100 to use with a way too loud 40W 5f61 tweed amp this EE student I know built… It’s AWESOME at that… actually sounds better than amp cranked and the addition of the effects loop is brilliant!!! With that said, I also have a couple of the Victory V4 preamp pedals and I want to try the V4 Countess + the PS100 as a stand-alone rig… Before I screw something up… how do I connect the two? Can I just use the speaker cab from my Tweed?

    Nice one! Thanks man. Can you tell me if its possible with the Fryette Power Station to record the raw line signal output (without frequency compensation) simultaneously with the cab turned on? And if so, is it also possible to mute the cab while recording the line out? Because in the daytime I like to hear the sound through the cab and in the night time I like to listen to headphones while recording through the Line output. And do you know if its possible to send STEREO line signals through the Power Sation (through the Powertubes)? Thanks!

    Great video! One question, you mentioned that you can run Randall Blackface straight into the PowerSration, but can you also plug Synergy Bogner directly into the PowerStation or do you need to also buy a Synergy docking station like the Syn 1?

  • @chasingtone2022

    @chasingtone2022

    Hi Don, thanks for checking out the video. The blackface module is running through an old Randall rm4 (which powers the module). The synergy modules woukd require a Syn 1/Syn 2 to work. You can use the old RM4 but only one channel would work on the module. The synergy stuff is amazing. I hope that helps.

    Chasing Tone you have any ideas of how to hook up the Power Station to a KHE amp switcher where you can have 6 amps, Kemper and quad cortex. I am trying to sort this all out so I can do it correctly.

  • @chasingtone2022

    @chasingtone2022

    I have never owned a KHE amp switcher so do not take what I say as gospel. However, I believe you would connect your valve amps to the KHE and take the speaker out from the KHE into the Fryette speaker in. I'm not to sure how it works with the kemper/quad cortex though. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

    I had one briefly as a power amp, I thought it was “too clean”…..I ended up getting a Russian hand made 2204 rack mount power amp (Myasnikov). Has line out, volume, presence, depth and negative feedback knobs. I just needed a power amp that gave me more “color” on my tone….

    Hi mate, thanks for checking the video out. I am curious as to how you found the differences between the PS2 and the Myasnikov? I was looking at a Myasnikov power amp but there's not a lot of videos demoing it the tone.

  • @Burkhimself

    @Burkhimself

    @@chasingtone2022 I simply took a chance on it. I had a sold another SP-77 preamp and needed a power amp. The PS-2 just seemed too clean, no color. I knew that I loved the sound of the preamp when running it into the effects loop return of my monotone 2204 and the return of the loop of my ‘89 Marshall 2210. On the power amp, I run t he presence at zero, depth at zero and negative feedback right in the middle. Myasnikov has a small site listing what he makes, he can also build anything literally with any options (a sold amp preamp with a fender clean channel or a multi channel preamp with the preamps of anything that’s made)….we messaged and I told him exactly what I wanted. It took him a bit of time to build it and of course shipping to America took more time. Zero complaints.

    Hi, thanks for checking the video out. My unit has been completely solid and I haven't had any issue with it aside from the tubes dying after 1 year and needed replaceming. This of course is normal with tube equipment and wouldn't have been a surprise if I had changed them first (my unit did have many hours on it in that year). It's a great unit and I actually really like the sound of it as a power amp. I hope that helps.

    Awesome video! How do you connect the Synergy modules to the Fryette?

  • @timeagan893
    @timeagan893 Жыл бұрын

    Sir I hope you can shed some light on this: I am interested in using the PS-100's tube power amp with a AxeFX II and through a Marshall 4X12 greenback loaded cab. Now the AxeFX has several adjustments/options one can make if you are using a Solid state power amp or a tube power amp. Now the difficulty is (as you remarked in your video) is that the fryette's tube power amp is more "clean" or "neutral" so as to not add much "color/personality)....BUT it still is a "Tube amp and I would guess that you would not make the AxeFX "settings adjustment that you would pick for "when using a solid state power amp" For instance for solid state power amp you might want to leave the AxeFX "power amp emulation on (because the solid state power amp is too "sterile" but is the Fryette ENOUGH of a "Tube power amp that you/I should leave the power amp emulation "Off". There are also other settings that are easier to guess (since I'm using a "Real" cab I should turn the "cab sim block off. So I guess I'm asking you: When using the fryette "tube power amp" even though it is actually a "Tube amp"...but still it is so "flat/neutral" as a power amp one should still leave "power amp simulation "ON".....YOUR THOUGHTS????
