Not for 2K.
I built my own ISO cab with an EVH Celestion inside. I’ve compared the tone to running an IR version of the EVH Celestion using Mooer Cab X2. I admit the IR is a fantastic reproduction but the recorded wave forms show much more detail being picked up with mics. Also, I can get a louder recorded tone with the ISO without clipping. Will anyone notice? No. But since when do we guitar nerds care about what others think….lol
Good video man. Awesome guitar and the tone sounds spot on. Are you not tempted to try and get some decals for the full on JC Blue Dress experience?
Hi! Shea from G&L here! great video. i just want to clarify that the new guitar we have released is a completely new model with 24 frets and a Floyd Rose and not a Jerry Cantrell reissue. :) hope that helps for any watchers with questions
Hi Shea, thanks for checking the video out and for the clarification. I will amend the title and thumbnail as I don't want it to be misleading, my apologies. Would you prefer me to remove this video to mitigate any further confusion re Jerry Cantrell.
@@chasingtone2022 Much appreciated! Keep up the great work!
@@chasingtone2022 no need to remove the video! A lot of great content here. The title change would be fine enough.
@@Shea19no problem Shea, I have changed the title. Thanks again, Chris.
Hey Shea, HUUUGE JC fan here - I'm also curious why the move from Khaler to Floyd? I'm glad you guys didn't cheap out with a Floyd 1000 and went OFR but the Khaler on the old one is just so unique. I'm sure most of the Cantrell purists out there wouldn't have minded a bit more price tag to get something like a 7300 Khaler option.
do you know when it's available in Europe?
Hi, I cannot see a realise date anywhere yet.
If they use Jerry's name to sell the new Rampages, they better not leave out that Jerry himself said he prefers the Kahler over the Floyd Rose. For me, Kramer is already the king of 80s-style Floyd Rose superstrats, so a Floyd Rose Rampage is pointless.
I love G&L and I'm a big Jerry Cantrell fan... I've played GL's since the 1990's and currently own 11 of them. That being said, I am NOT a fan of this new version of the Rampage. I think the 24 frets look really weird on this model. If G&L was going to offer 24 frets then IMO, they should have done it on the Invader model (the Jackson Soloist version). I think having a Floyd instead of the Kahler that everyone identifies with this guitar with, or even the G&L dual fulcrum tremolo is also an odd choice. These are my personal opinions YMMV, but as someone I believe would be their target consumer, I'll be passing. IMO, if they want to appeal to new players, then maybe do a baritone version or a 7 string.
Lovely guitar! looking forward to your review. Thinking about picking one up, sadly its not available right now
I had TWO of these back in 2010/11. Both white and black. They were VERY well built and played amazing. Very articulate, hot pickups. I hope they do these new reissues justice, because the last I saw, the 2010s ones were fetching like 3x their value. EDIT: No Kahler....No thank you
Wow, that is amazing, you are very lucky!! I hope they do them justice aswell - I am sure they will be fine guitars. I see theres a Jerry Cantrell Rampage model on eBay for 27k - crazy. I think the no Kahler issue is going to be problematic for a lot of folks.
Current Kahler is a very small operation. I doubt they could supply enough units for this run
Good point but G&L is also a very small operation that I suspect will not end up making a ton of these.
Great
Awesome dude! Keep up the good work! Really appreciate it :)
Thank you for that.
I think it’s important to note this new Rampage has no association with Jerry Cantrell.
The other guitarist in my band has one of these signed by the entire band (AIC)
Wow, one of the news ones or the old ones? That's is so cool!!
Time to sell that tubby Shiva and get the real deal Ecstasy.
In my opinion i think the new Rampage has just become like all the other Floyd Rose superstrats . They shouldn't have changed anything just released one with Cantrell's specs, this ones a hard pass for me.
Yeah, I was amped until I saw no Kahler. No thanks. The Kahler on the 2010s models were sooooo damn smooth
Jerry is my main inspiration both for songwriting and riffing! ❤❤❤
I was checking out some of your songs earlier. Cool stuff man!
Exciting!! I want one 😍
HiJo. How are you doing? Thanks for checking out the video. I am totally with you - although I think they will go like hot cakes but exciting none the less :)
@@chasingtone2022 I’m great thanks! Funnily enough I’ve just made a video about signature guitars, although I didn’t know about this one coming out but I haven’t finished editing yet so I might try to get it in somehow…and put a link to this in the description of course!
@@JojoFryrocks I am glad to hear you are great. It looks like your channel is really picking up, how cool is that. It sounds like a great idea if you could try and add this one to the video and a link to my video would be very much appreciated. I will look forward to your vid.
Bring back Jerry’s Superhawk next!!
I’ve been waiting to see a video like this. I have the PS-2a and have been using it as an attenuator. But have been watching the modules being developed and thinking what a handy way to have what ever sound profile you want at all times. My question is what do you need to run the modules into the PowerStation? Since the PowerStation is its own amp, it doesn’t need the Synergy or Randall amplification. What is the most cost effective way to utilize modules with a PowerStation?
Hi Don, thanks for checking out the video and commenting. The most cost effective way to start using the Synergy system with the Power Station is to buy a Synergy Syn 1. This is a unit for a single module that can be plugged into the PA-2A. I hope that helps. Chris
It isn’t really that cost effective because the Syn1 is $500, the module is $500 and the PowerStation is $1,000, so it’s $2,000 before you even have one set up with no speakers.
If I can bother you with more questions. What’s the purpose of the SYN 1? Why aren’t the modules standalone preamp sections than can be plugged into the power amp or board on their own?
Great tones there ❤ i use it also as a power amp with the UAfx Lion 68, such a great tone
That guitar! The guitar of the Grunge Riff God! Holy shit!!!❤❤❤
If you don't have a topless, nicotine-stained girl on your guitar, then I can't take any of this seriously.
Ha! That gave me a proper laugh. I completely understand!! I did see a decal of said women but I thought it might be a bit cheeky to put it on the guitar but I may reconsider although it will probably get my channel banned!
Great playing , great guitar , great tone 👍
Thanks for checking out the video. That is very kind thank you!!
Wow man this sounds awesome. Shred on dude.😃👍❤️🔥⚡️🎶🎸
Thanks man! Appreciate that 🙏
@@chasingtone2022 You’re very welcome. Much love.❤️
What a guitar!! Full review coming soon.
Nailed it! Absolutely spot on, you did Jerry proud ❤
Ahh thats very kind thank you :).
That tone is sick af and spot on dude. Out of curiosity, how much did the Rampage run you? I'm trying to get my hands on one of the Cantrell signature models but they're near impossible to find
Thanks man! I really appreciate that. I brought mine about 20 years ago for around £300. They are so very rare now. They feel like a premium guitar if you can get your hands on one.
Didn't jerry use a bogner modded jcm800? The snorkler
Hey, thanks for checking out the video and commenting. Yes he did - I believe that was on Dirt. After that I think he used a variety of Bogner although his mainstay was a Bogner Fish. I actually had a Fish 20 years ago, I wish I had kept it.
Anything Alice In Chains makes for good content , great tone 10/10.
Thanks man and thanks for checking out the video. I am with you, anything AIC is awesome!
Good stuff ! I've been waiting for this one. Great playing and that tone is dam near perfect ! Keep ' em coming. Tom
Oh wow you got Jerry’s rig ❤
I have and I am very lucky. Thank you for checking out the video and subbing :).
Full review of the G&L Rampage Tribute coming up in a couple of weeks (I even sing on it - watch out!)

What effects/pedals are you using? I really want the Jerry Cantrell signature wah but can’t justify spending £200 on a pedal! I used a Boss Katana patch for the intro to Rooster in my video, it worked ok but wasn’t quite the same as an actual pedal
@@JojoFryrocks for this video. I was using a John Petty Lift and SD1 - the wah is a Morley Bad Horsie (Steve Vai pedal), such an amazing Wah - although I would love to get Jerry's but £200 is a hefty price. Effects wise, theres a touch of delay and reverb that I added in my Daw. I am pretty sure that the beginning of Rooster is a Rotovibe pedal. Your Tone on Rooster was spot on though. What guitar are you using? It looks super interesting.
@@chasingtone2022 thanks! The guitar in that video is the one I made myself when I was 16, there’s a video all about it on my channel, it’s holding up pretty well given that it’s now 27 years old 😱
@@JojoFryrocks that is amazing. I will check out your video. That is certainly a guitar for life :)
Great demo and excellent playing bro. They both sounded awesome. I’m considering buying a bigger and will most likely choose the KT88 version
Thanks for the kind words man. The KT88 is a beast. It is one hell of an amp.
34s cut through more
The KT88's sound fuller to my ears, but perhaps the EL34's would cut better in a live context.
What mods / adjustments did u need to do to allow you to change tubes? I didn’t realise the 20th could take EL34’s!
Hi Paul, thanks for checking out the video. I took the amp to an amp tech as I'm not savvy enough to do it. The tech did say there was a few component changes that were needed for him to bias it but I so not know the specifics, sorry. Sounds killer with EL34s though.
34s
Thanks for checking out the video. I am with you👍
Mate could you plug a Helix straight into that and then to speakers would that work ok ?
Hi Chris, what about a AIC vid ?
That's a great idea. Do you mean a cover of AIC?
Yep, maybe a breakdown of the track with equipment mentions etc.
Great to see you back 👍
HI ! great Video ! do you maybe know if its possible to plug in the cabinet( speaker) AND play silent ?? i dont want to plug in and out my cabinet all the time (powerstation speaker out)
Hi, thanks for checking out the video. I believe the only way you can do this is, plug into your cab - turn down the volume on the front and use the Line out on the back (and the line out volume to moderate this) to go out to an interface (I assume this is what you mean to do). Does that help at all?
When i plug my amp in exactly as u showed, the ps100 does nothing. The signal goes straight thru to the speakers. But the knobs and switches have zero effect??
Hi Jackie, I'm sorry to hear you have an issue with you unit. It doesn't sound right to me. It sounds like the power amp is not being engaged. Might be a good idea to reach out to Fryette for some support. Good luck. Chris
I can answer this. Firstly I recommend you watch some other vids, this one is a little bit simple as there's zero explanation of what's going on inside the unit. You have to distinguish between the reactive load/attenuation and the power amp. You can use either or both at the same time. When you go from your amp's speaker output to the "Amp In" of the PS, you aren't using the power amp of the PS, you're only using the reactive load/attenuator. This is normal operation if you just want to crank your amp but then turn down the volume afterwards to get lower volumes and the controls only on the left of Volume will work (the presence and depth knobs are only applicable to the power amp). For a power amp application, you'd use a pre-amp into the line in of the PS and you'd plug a small cable between the speaker out and Amp In on the PS. This effectively uses the the Power Amp within the PS and would allow to use the depth and presence. Another way of doing this is instead of using the poweramp in your combo/amp, use the send in the FX loop of your amp to the PS and use the power amp within the PS. I hope this makes sense.
Hi! Very helpful video. I have one head amplifier connected to a 2x12 cab and a fender twin reverb. Was thinking of a way to be able to have the PS2 connected to either the amp head or the fender at anytime. Any ideas?
How does it work just with overdrive pedals?
Ya I can't actually hear a difference.... But that's a good video none the less
Great video, I know it been up a while but I just checked it out. Question, will this handle a 100 watt head amp? Or would I need to move up to the PS100? Also, the effects loop when you run a couple of boxes through is it ready to be used or is there a switch that needs to be made to get them engaged? Sorry if it seems if these are dumb questions.
Maybe you can clear something up for me. What is the reason behind doing this? If you already have a 100 watt amp head and a 4x12 cab and it already has an Fx loop built in to the amp head, what is the reason? I understand if you are using this to power maybe 2 separate stereo channels for W/D/W setup but why do this with just the amp and cab? What is the reasoning/benefit?
Will you be returning to the KZread world? There are quite a few gaps in content that you could fill. All the best.
Hi Pieve5516, thank you for your kind words. I am in the process of trying to work out what to do with my KZread channel i.e. what different angle can I need to try and put on the channel to make it more successful/ different. It seems that there are so many channels doing the same kind of thing/ mine included, it is hard to get any traction. You mentioned a gap in the channel in your other comment. What did you mean by this if you dont mind me asking? Chris
Finally a clear and intelligent review if the Fryette functionality. Why don't you have more subscribers?
