    Great video. I'm doing this job for the second time in 18 months because I didn't do the seal on the back the first time - don't get tempted to skip that! I had trouble bracing the old hub to get the axle nut off, the wheel studs would rock on the jack stand making it hard to get good leverage. One easy way to do it is to simply put the brake rotor and calipers back on and get an assistant to hold the brakes while you crank on the axle nut with the breaker bar. Thanks for the video Flo!

    Another trick: Put your lug nuts on to protect threads. Then Place a long pry bar between two studs and then place the jack stand under the end of the pry bar. This keeps the truck from rocking excessively and allowed me to get my torque spec without having to put the brake rotor on.

    Great video, very thorough. Just an FYI, wheel spacers cause premature bearing wear. I found out the hard way. I bought the correct wheels with the right backspacing and offset. They look better too👍☺️

  • @KFloTacoma

    @KFloTacoma

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks for watching and supporting the channel! Technically backspaced wheels do too since it's basically pulling the tires further away from the wheel bearing and introducing the similar stresses. Regardless though, I do have proper offset wheels now with 35's (which will definitely wear the bearing due to higher stresses introduced by the larger tires, part of the fun thought right? LOL). Check out the fitting 35's vid: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ooJ2xM-fYLLPl9Y.html

    Good job man, very informative. I am about to do it on my 2008 4Runner. Before I saw your video, I did not think to replace that larger seal from other side of the hub, where axle enters the hub/bearing assembly through the knuckle. Is this always must to do when replace the hub/bearing assembly on the front of the rig? I did order pair of Koyo's and they will come with o ring and the seal. The reason I am asking is this procedure does require extra work to be able to insert that large seal from other side of the knuckle.. Thanks in advance!

    In all honesty, ALL the IFS wheel bearings don't last. These ones I had lasted about 22 months with my 35's and 1000 lb 4 wheel camper. My buddy who has OEM front wheel bearings with 40's lasted only 20 months. At the end of the day, these front wheel bearings wear very fast unless you have stock size tires and setup
