    Thank You for all more than 30 videos for the RAV4, I recently bought a 5 door 1996 Rav4 and some of your videos helped me out fixing some issues from my Toyota. These RAV4`s had a common noise from the rear diferential, that People in my country (Costa Rica) tells me that are two possible causes. 1. the rear Diferential support, and the level of the oil diferential. Maybe you could do one video of that. Thanks again.

    The rear differential mounts go bad in the RAV4. The differential has 2 mounts. One of them is in the back and it's easy to reach. The hard to reach one is usually the problem. It's about a foot long and sits across the front of the differential. The rubber bushings inside get soft or broken, and the differential rocks side to side when you put the car in gear, making a loud clunk. I'll make a video soon.

    The only reason I can think for how Toyota did the speaker wholes is a) to direct the sound up to the passengers and prevent bleeding sound below passengers B) power window were larger speaker, possibly power window cover had a larger opening in the plastic. Is the sound different with and without the holes covered?

    I think a double DIN radio would look cool, but might be less practical, because it's lower and you have to take your eyes farther off the road to see it. I don't look at my radio while driving anyway - I use the volume knob and that's about it.

    I have installed 6x9 in front doors like you on my mk2 (very similar mechanically). They sound great. I added 2 to rear doors and 2 to rear shelf and sub + amp in the back. What I did with speakers, mounted them all on PU glue and let it tried over week time. It is around speaker frame and is quite thick. First use screws to mount speakers in air, then add PU, remove screws after it dries out - recommend hot environment for this, in cold it can take months to dry.

    I doubt anything is wrong with it. Stock stereos usually don’t have very much power. If you install a more powerful subwoofer with a new amplifier in the back, it will be much louder. You might be able to fit an 8 inch sub instead of 6 and it will play the lower frequencies.

    I've personally never felt a difference between Bluetooth and physical connections. Especially when Bluetooth 4.1 introduced 128 bit audio and seamless auto connection. Im sure there's some audio experts out there foaming at the mouth because I said this but let's he real... besides latency which doesn't matter for music, does a wired connection have a great enough advantage to be noticed by ear compared to modern Bluetooth.

    Hi Paul, my 2000 RAV4 is burning quite a bit of engine oil. I'm not sure why and would like to fix that. I started doing some research and it might be valve stem seals? Could that be it?

  • @LabCoatPaul

    @LabCoatPaul

    2 жыл бұрын

    How do you know it's burning oil? Do you have blue smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe, and oil on your spark plugs? Or do you have oil leaking on to the exhaust under the engine, making smoke in the engine bay? Leaking valve stem seals can make your car burn oil. How many miles are on your car? Worn piston rings can cause this too, but it's less likely. Take a sample of your oil and send it to blackstone-labs.com It's the easiest way to get some good information about the condition of your engine. Also do a compression test. If your valve stem seals are leaking, the best thing to do is install a remanufactured cylinder head. compression test video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ioeomrt_ZbCYmto.html oil test video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iouAx5Wql8eTntI.html cylinder head video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/faeqm5qDpqXXiNY.html
