21 legends filming early Jaws (some b roll never seen before).
I'm lucky that Dave Kalama is my friend. 25 minutes, never turned the camera off.

Laird might be Captain America and a true legend that the crew I'm sure would not have pushed it as hard as they did without him! Dave was always my inspiration of that pinonering crew. Why? It's all right here! Much respect, Mahalo.

After so many decades of talking about life, surfing, competition, being on this planet and so much more fake-smart-bullshit this is the first time I've listened through this kind of talking in one piece. Not once but twice. Totally blown away by so much truth and good sense about what it's all about. Thank you Dave. You just earned a decent spot in my heart.

Most people ACT like they enjoy big waves but it's really just machismo and talk. You can tell it's in soul with this man. Really enjoyed Dave as an announcer at that great contest a few years back...spoke his mind which is really refreshing.

Great work Brent. History was made by Dave, Laird, Derrick, and the Strapped Crew in the 90's. True Water Men. Watched Dave surf Hookipa in the winter whenever a swell was up. Dave is a quiet guy who let his ability in the water speak for itself. Mahalo!

Great interview with a massive collection of quality pictures and videos. I remember when were bus boys in Kihei and we sailed the Kona winds out front of Polly’s on The Beach where we both worked at the time. He was always hard to outdo because he’s a natural waterman and was a good friend of mine at the Time 1985 and on.. You chose well Dave! Mahalo From JR

For the first time in the surf cultures short history we get a glimpse of how fragile pure surfing is. This man is pure fun, he is exactly where he should be. The ego, the money and the all mighty me me me part of waveriding consumes way too many great people. Share the wave and share the stoke, nobody owns the ocean and whatever way you ride just keep riding with a smile! Please leave that crap on the land where it belongs...
