I really enjoyed your commentary and look forward to more on Dimash. I've listened to him every single day for the past three years. He's beyond amazing!

All the people in this competition are professional singers with their own successful careers. They are all invited to take part and feel privileged to do so. They all respect each other and welcomed Dimash. None of them knew him as he was a wild card from Kazakhstan and he came 2nd overall. But his international career was launched with his first appearance where he sung S O S. He has appeared on a couple of the other artist’s shows and they have sung on Dimash’s concert. He is so humble and respectful so the others took to him immediately.

He stays humble but knows his talent.

His parents once asked him why he spread his arms out like that while he is singing. He would often be at their concerts when he was a tot and would see them do that at the very end of their performances. He decided to mimic them, and sometimes when he is in mid performance as well. At first I thought he was just asking for applause, but his mother, Sveta, says it just became a habit from mimicking them.

We serious Dimash fans have succeeded in getting him to #1 in requests three weeks in a row on MTV's youtube channel Friday Livestream but relatively few of us have been doing all of the work to keep him there. Last week we came within 30 minutes of failing him before a furious last minute surge of requests from those of us who were there to the end. We could use the support of a few more Dimash Dears in order to keep Dimash at the top where he wants and deserves to be. Anyone who can help should tune into the livestream every Friday from 5-8 pm New York time and type REQUEST DIMASH as many times as possible in the chat to the right of the streaming video during the three hours the program is airing. It's the least we can do for Dimash after all he has done and continues to do for us.

In the 13 episodes of the I Am Singer contest, Dimash won 1st place in three: SOS, Opera 2, and Adagio. So you're right - everyone else was just out of luck that night. Imagine their response after the first episode when he sang SOS - he was basically unknown, then he knocked it out of the park. And he went on first that first night, leaving everyone to follow.

I'm not sure why Dimash came in 2nd but he kept a good attitude...no bitterness , no belittleing the winner or judges, etc....and he's actually THE winner because it's Dimash who has gone on to become famous and beloved worldwide!

@@NC-hv3mt You'd really need to watch a few full episodes to appreciate the strength of the competition. I love Dimash, never miss a day without listening to him, but - in my personal opinion - every episode of Singer wasn't his best work. It's a very tough competition - I don't understand it - but I guess they don't get to choose all of their own music, and they have 1 week to prepare their performance. Sandy Lam was the first place winner - not only is she incredibly talented and professional, but she's had a LONG career in China and she's very much loved. Very loyal fans. For some people, at some times, the sheer weight of memories of all that a performer has been in their lives will trump a single performance. So those are the pieces (there may be more.) Dimash isn't perfect. People sometimes vote for someone they love. Sandy Lam is very, very good. The performances aren't judged by technical singing ability - but by human beings who are reacting to their heart being touched. My opinion.

I agree that Sandy Lam is a very good singer and deserving of her loyal fans and so were some of the others and I enjoyed their performances. And I agree with you that Dimash is not always perfect in his performances and contrary to the belief of some...certainly not a perfect person since none of us are. He's even said before himself that he's not and so has his mother ...LOL..that he has his moments. And from what I've read, that particular competition really IS tough! Seems it goes on for 4 months...and young 22 yr.old Dimash was essentially alone in a foreign country, with a language barrier, eating food he was unaccustomed to and at one point got sick...but sang anyway. Even his competition admired Dimash's abilities and Dimash as a person and were very kind to him and he to them and is now even close friends with a couple of them, Terry Lin for one. In any case, I wasn't bashing Sandy Lam. She did very well. I was just making the point that no matter which way you look at it, Dimash came out the big winner since it's his name that's being heralded all over the internet, youtube, etc. and requested for "reactions" and he is now being recognized and his talents appreciated worldwide and receives requests and invitation after invitation to come to various countries and do concerts...whereas, I suspect there are many outside China who don't even know who Sandy Lam is.

He touches my heart and soul ... every time. This song belongs in Lara Fabian's repertoire, a world-famous singer and songwriter. I have yet to have as much affection for another singer’s music as I have for Dimash’s. He has incredible talent and range - both musically and as a human. Humility is an attractive feature amongst even the most talented of musicians. Love your reaction and suggest you check all of his genres!

He uses a lot of mix chest belting here in upper range except in the beginning which I believe is not falsetto but pure head voice from the insane vibrato he uses there. You can’t vibrato in falsetto.

Why on earth do so many Dears recommend Adagio. I love this performance but as the 2nd video for someone to see, really? I can name at least a dozen other ones I would rather he watched before this one. Sinful passion, Ogni Petra and Hello might be a little too soon, but what about Show Must Go On, Opera 2, Autumn Strong and I'm just getting atarted SMH
