French Coins Counting Machine Restoration - Uncovering the Mystery of a Rare Machine!
In this video, I restored a coin-counting machine made in France.
More about the restoration/transformation process:
I was the lucky winner of this piece on an auction site. I found it very interesting, and it was worth the effort because we don't see something like this every day. The seller told me that the Mint of Poland used this money-counting machine, then he purchased it and used it for personal purposes, most likely to trust casino chips in the 90s.
The restoration/transformation process was uneventful but painstaking. Many pieces were damaged due to water and time, especially the top. The whole project took almost three weeks.
The disassembly alone took over 10 hours. I cleaned the rusted parts with a 2000-watt laser. It was satisfactory, and everything went faster than with the traditional sandblaster. If I didn't have this laser, I would have had to clean the vast parts manually because many of them wouldn't even fit in the blasting cabinet. Then I would have had to clean the chemical hammer paint, which would have taken me many days. If you want to learn more about this machine: www.sfxlyxc.com/?aff=2198
I also wanted to keep a vintage industrial feel, and I succeeded.
I painted the large parts with hammer paint, but with a light green, to match the smaller pieces treated with messing brass, a protective and very durable spray containing 99% brass.
I chose this method because I can't afford it and don't want to have a chrome bath in the workshop. It is highly toxic and requires a lot of approvals to own such a thing.
I hope you enjoy this restoration project. I enjoyed working on it and am thrilled with how it turned out; it was highly satisfying to see how it works and to have the opportunity to own such a rare object!
Please ask me if you have any questions about what I used and why! I answer them all!
Cheers! Johnny.

My restlessness, impatience and inability to figit in confined spaces makes this a no go for me. I would love to service my own watches, but alas..... I can watch someone else do a tremendous job instead! Update: so much for my analogue world! What an amazing piece of machinery, that laser stripper! Damn! Maybe I just love technology ;-) No I really get emotional when I see old analogue stuff. I'm impressed with all the new technology, but man, the world of Turing is pulling my heart strings!

Nice job, however I suggest when attaching the orange ground wire on the strap, for what I believe is a starting capacitor, it should wrap around the screw in the same direction in which it tightens. That way it pulls the wire tighter around the screw.

I know a lot of patience is required to take something like this apart and put it back together however you shouldn’t oil the motor windings/stator with oil only the bearings, if they’re wiper bearings then just the pads that hold oil or if bushings then just bushing area, all the best
You must have hired some helpers to keep track of its inventory! Lol
