Air Compressor Tank should be check and inspected by authorised competent person to ensure that the fitness of the tank are in good working condition to prevent tank explodes if the machine is to be re-used again. Good job man.

I love watching your videos ,no drama just great videos of a person who has great skills working with minimal tools. Your videos are some of the best on any site I watch on utube. But the compressor for its size with 3 cylinders to compress air didn't build up much air pressure.

How did you fix the rust in the air compressor cylinders?
@william6526
6 ай бұрын
I don't think he did,for a compressor this size it didn't build very much air pressure. I'd be interested to see how much pressure it will build and hold after running 5 minutes. As rusted as those cylinders were I'm pretty sure it's got blow by issues.

Cylinder sleeves on well used air compressors(or ones sitting out in the weather for 25 years) are always the first to get worn(or rusted) and cause little air compression, maybe new rings on the pistons will hold for a few uses but not for long.Why not just get them bored out at a machine shop if you're going to all this trouble. I call this guy the paint mechanic,make it look pretty and it fixes any piece of junk!!

Those poor bearings, that was painful to watch
Good stuff but hammers and bearings is not a great mixture
Just a suggestion get a dead blow hammer with a lead or copper head for pounding in the race ball bearings. Pipe of a similar size to the shaft is better than a driver. When you assemble the pistons you were putting in the gudgeon pins while the piston was contacting the steel bench. Take more care and you will get more respect.

Great clean up and reassemble job, but c’mon guys. That’s a full workshop compressor, surely you could have run some heavier hose and a one inch impact on a few huge rusted truck lug nuts to give it a workout?! It’s a little big to be using to fill up tires or soccer balls isn’t it? I’ll give you one 👍🏼 for the restoration, but you’d have to prove it’s worth for the other one😉

He didn't wash the grinding paste off after grinding the valves. Big error. Also big huge error beating ball bearings in with a big steel hammer. Set the valves by pulling them open to see if gapped. No, that takes a feeler guage.

It looks great, other than that I’d say it’s a fail. New reeds, reed plates, cylinders, and proper sized belts would help. Never paint or reuse pop off valves, no need to Teflon flare threads as they are not the sealing surface. Also I am curious as to the condition of the inside of the tanks, too much deterioration and they can explode. Also don’t paint the lubricated areas of the engine like inside the valve area. I wish I could get my hands on one of those engines, they look like they are built like a tank and simple enough to last a lifetime.

@@restorationsskills4967 I rebuilt just about anything from vintage appliances to atv’s, I’ve done a few air compressors but it difficult because the tanks are usually compromised and replacements are far too expensive to justify. We’re talking large industrial 200-300 gallon tanks not sure what that is in liters but it’s big. I wish you had shown more like what did you do to the cylinders? Just a hone, replace, bore? What was your method of cleaning up the reeds? My country however has rather strict rules on industrial equipment, if I sell a bad tank and it explodes I can get into serious trouble, not sure how your country’s laws are. The safety valve alone being painted would be a failed inspection.
