first 3 speeds go through a resistor module, high speed is separate straight 12 volt wire from a relay. needs new plug, burned side is high speed side. they get hot when plug gets old and loose fitting.

Can’t remember how the early Shakers worked but…… Some trucks run through a resistor to get the voltage down therefore slower fan speed. The last position is full battery power. Some run through a separate relay and some run straight battery voltage through the switch.

A friend who has a classic said the 4th speed has its own separate resistor. I drove 5 different classics and they only had 3 speed controls. Learn something new every day.

The fourth speed is on another relay. It's on the top row of relays.

Had the same problem on several freightliners, the new resistor was bad on my replaced it with another new one and now all speeds work, those harnesses for the blower motor burn and over heat from running the blower on the higher settings all day everyday, so I know it has to run hard being in the southern heat what I noticed is the heat ducts where ripped and tore all over the place in the dash equals loss of air flow and not cooling the cab but cooling the dash more! I duck taped all the areas I found with rips and tears and man what a difference in how fast it cools the cab off and how much harder it blows out the vents..

on the fan check the fan diode. not sure if that yr has one but they also go out and they are like 40 bucks. they look like a circuit board real easy plug and play. and it acts like a fan motor speed switch when its just the diode.

Had this same issue in my silverado today. I had to change the connector that plugs into resistor because it was burnt up. I know it’s a silverado and not a freight liner but the A/C system works the same.

Hey there man I have a quick question. What is that block called behind the passenger side dash panel that had the four metal ac lines going to near where your blower motor harness was hanging? I just found out mine is leaking freon into the cab.

Separate relay for fan speed #4 position on top. Check the relay and/or fuse for speed #4.

That's right if the resistor goes bad the only speed is going to be high. It's the variable speed switch that you're turning right there is probably what is wrong.

I really enjoy the video .. I have similar problems on my 1998 FLD 120 .. the blower is working Unfortunately he connector that gives power to the blower is burned there is no power.. I thought it was the switch .. I bought the switch and no progress yet.. could you please give me any idea how to fix the blower connector.. the wire to the connector got no power ..

I drive a 99 classic and it has 4 blower motor speeds just FYI. If the wires melt like yours replace the motor it has too much resistance but you have a new motor so that’s not news to you. Good luck with your motor

Check the voltage with a voltmeter and check all the speed voltage of the regulator . You might have bad resistor or connection.

Your speed controller is bad on the last speed. I’m sure you will have to buy the complete assembly to fix the problem. Had to do the same on my old Freightliner.
