Freightliner Classic DIY AC Control knob Replacement

Ойын-сауық

We end up replacing the AC control Switch & it still didn’t fix the fan speed unfortunately. Then we go on and replace the rear end fluid.

    The vibration could be one or a number of things. I own a 2000 classic and had a bad vibration, changed shocks, set the ride hight on the suspension( made sure drive line straight and not in a bind)and the sleeper. Changed the bearings on the rear ends. In the end it was a bad yoke on the rear diff. Check those things out. And if you change your yoke out make sure to put a new nut on. They are fine threaded and pretty much done after you remove them. As far as the clutch goes, I never had one cause a vibration problem. Your metal in the oil looks pretty normal.Oh yeah,, my ac did the same thing, all I did was change the switch and got all 4 speeds.But every rig and setup is different.

    I chased a vibration for 5 years. Changed everything. And I mean EVERYTHING. Ended up being a worn spindle on the rear axle. Vibrations are like ghosts. Good luck.

    AK I going to tell you this no lie, Me and the brother in law had an FLD I pulled the front and rear AC apart and we replaced all the resistor's and I clean the coils front and rear I the rite way with coil cleaner then rinsed with water, but we also replaced with the artic freeze synthetic (Yeah High Dollar) and you couldn't hardly stay in that truck after it would get so cold at night's Take your time and just do it right! you really want to clean Look for a coil cleaner called Blue Max at a AC supply shop that distributes to AC shop's but you have to rinse with water if you want your coil's lol!

    The joys of owning an older truck is stuff happens but that monthly doesn’t so don’t sweat it just fix one thing at a time. Your vibration is most likely not the diff they usually make noise but vibrations are hard to chase down. Good luck with it the only vibrations I’ve had with my classic was unjoints but you have them covered.

    Hey AK. Just started watching your stuff a couple weeks back, and i love it. You may know this, but your "favorite tunnels" on 285 where you always hit your Jakes on your way to Union City are actually two of the runways for Hartsfield International Airport. Didn't know if you knew that or not. Be safe, man.

    That is a normal amount of metal shavings on the magnets and it seem like the problem could be the clutch or the pilot bearing on the flywheel

    My ac blower was doing the same thing. I switched the relay, and I got my 4 speed back. It's on top left roll. Mine was the 2nd, but numbers 2 and 3 control the ac blower. One is for 1,2, and 3 while the other is for 4. Hope this helps you.

    My FLD had a wicked vibration that we could never Trace down and then one day we found it. Something was going wrong in the pinion area and it actually broke the pinion. So we put new u-joints in, a new ring and pinion and yolks on the rears

  • @christopherrichards4205
    @christopherrichards42053 жыл бұрын

    That's normal wear what was on the magnets. To really address the issue is pull out the whole pumpkin physically inspect all the gears and bearings. Check axle bearings flush it all out a simple oil swap won't tell you anything unless chunks cone out. I replaced 2 front rears before I learned it was the drive shaft and yolk was slightly off balance and misaligned. I was chewing up bearings.

    Can't believe that the clutch is gone already. You never said how many miles are on the rears. If you can get a good set of 342s. I would put them in instead of another clutch. Probably the rears are just worn out. Of course you won't know until you take them out. Just Saying.
