FreeCAD: Over Built Surface Technique With Trim Surface Tool | Basic Surfacing #4

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

We will learn in FreeCAD how to create a over-built surface and use the trim tool to trim parts of the surface away with sketches. Overbuilt means that the surface initially exceeds the size of the original object, and then the excess is trimmed away using projected sketches. We will teach you how to use the Curves workbench to do this.
In our first example, we will examine the workflow of how to build a stylized chair. Form there we will move onto a more complex form where we combine two surfaces together.

Thank you 😊 I like to leave in the problems. A large number of my videos are totally unscripted so when things go wrong they are real and I fix on the spot. It will never go right for everyone and I think tutorials for any software need to include these problems. Glad your enjoying.

Have you considered creating a Udemy course on FreeCAD? You're one of the best FreeCAD instructors around, and with your new beginner series you'd probably get some interest.

Truly amazing. Useful for people with a brain. I only have 3 brain cells left, and they're busy arguing about who gets my coffee.

I laughed at this comment today as I think I need to borrow one of yours as mines gone off and got coffee and never come back. Not joking, I have put mine coffee down somewhere in the house and I can't find it. My Mrs is going to be confused, if she finds it, it's in her mug!

Is there any possibility that you could make a video on the proper workflow for part design that prevents models from breaking? I've been killing myself trying to learn FreeCad and I've got it mostly down, but I am so tired of my models breaking and I can't seem to figure out how to use the Datum planes to prevent model destruction. There doesn't seem to be any real videos on KZread that depict the proper workflow that professionals use in order to make models that don't break.
