FREE Project: Ogalala Lace Bracelet

This video is a bit of a throwback! I actually filmed it the very first time I shot for KZread so some of the graphics are the old style. But the info is red hot!

I just made this. What a thread hog. I bet I used 20'. It's the first time I've used a peyote toggle. I'll incorporate that more often. I loved it. When I started I didn't have enough of one color 6mm except for a multicolored strand I bought so I used it with a variegated blue seed bead. I liked it okay, but when I went to stitch the last row with the 3mm bead in the center I used a package of multicolored 6o seed beads. It took the bracelet from okay to wow. Thanks for a great tutorial. I wish I could upload it. The multicolor and the 6o seed beads took it from more dressy bracelet to something to wear with a pair of jeans and anything else because it had all the colors. Thanks again. Your awesome!!

I enjoy beading. One of my best friends really enjoys you. As I began to watch your videos and You Tube I began to understand why. I don't usually put comments of this type out in cyberspace. However you are incredibly awesome. Your personality is delightful and you make it so easy to understand the lessons. Thank you for being a great mentor.

Hi Jill, I made the first one you made a video of and love it then and love this one too. May I ask if some time this year we could do a bracelet or earrings, may be both, in Herringbone stitch. I love this graceful stitch. It has a wonderful drape to it and next to RAW is one of my favourite stitches. Chris from OZ.

Hi Jill. I am fairly new to beading. I have been trying to make this bracelet, but I can't seem to get passed the ladder stitching of the firepolish beads. When I finish instead of the holes top and bottom, they end up on their ends. I also have too much thread between the beads. I don't think the seed beads would cover it up. I have tried manipulating the beads so they are standing the way they are supposed to but then everything seems to loosen up. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? I'm sure I probably just need to keep practicing using the ladder stitch with the firepolish beads. Maybe I should make a Barbie bracelet first :) I love your videos and projects. Thank you!

I have gone crazy making these that I ordered some more beads from you this week. :). I just love it and i dont feel im broke after making one. I have a question. If I wanted to sell any Ogalala online anywhere after making one, what is expected of me as the seller? Its your pattern and I'm beginning and its my first year at this. I just wouldn't want to list it improperly. I hope that makes sense. Love your weekly videos :)

Joy Bernhardt I've done it that way too, but it makes the space between the bigger beads a little too big.

@Joy Bernhardt I was thinking the very same thing! (Great minds.... ;-) If the 11/0 beads loops create a gap between the 6mm CFPs, maybe 15/0 or mix of 15/0 & 11/0 would work. I may play with that idea :-)

Dear Jill- beautiful work and techniques, I really appreciated the video tutorial. One question- are you using a thin metal wire ( what size?) or a regular cotton thread? I could not make out which one of those was used by you throughout the whole video. Also can this be done with the stretchy synthetic thread?- I have seen those being sold on ebay and I would think for a bracelet they are the best way to go. I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you. Marian

  • @JillWisemanDesigns

+Marian Paronyan - I mainly use 6lb Fireline. Beading thread like Nymo, C-Lon, One G, etc. can also be used. I never recommend stretchy thread because over time the "stretch" will permanently loosen and the project will be destroyed.

  • @marianparonyan

Thank you, dear. I was wondering about the stretchy kind, because I bought one on Ebay 2 years ago and never used it. But Fireline 6 lb is a perfect solution. keep those great videos coming! Thank you.
