Now go watch "Prophet's Song" performed by Queen Extravaganza and sung by Marc Martel. Brian May himself said he would never see this song performed to such a degree of excellence. See, May and Taylor have heard Martel singing for the past 4 years and still keep Lambert... beyond understanding. Except, without Martel, Queen Extravaganza would have flopped in their initial tour 4 years ago, and that would have been the end of them. (Not putting down the instrumentalists, they are great, it is just that no one is like Martel at singing AND keys and guitars)

There is no Queen any longer really. QuEx does sound better than Roger and Brian and whatever singer of the day they use. Marc and Tyler Warren have very similar rapport as Freddie and Roger used to have. The rest of the band is very talented as well. In my opinion, they were even better when Brian Gresh was playing with them, but that is the matter of taste, I suppose. Although legends, Roger and Brian are not so interesting to watch and even less interesting to listen to. They are simply getting old, as much as we would love them to stay young. Warren is every bit as good of a drummer as Roger was in his hay day. Brian Gresh is a better guitar player than Brian May, in my opinion. Yes, they are legends, but they are way past their prime. Adam Lambert is completely wrong for Queen. Marc and the QuEx are a better band all around and embody the Queen's spirit to the tee while remaining individual artists in their own right.

Exactly...I saw Queen in Vegas. That's when I recognized that they were another cover band. Adam didn't sound like Queen. It was like going to hear the Beach Boys sing and have somebody else sing their songs. I'd take Freddie and Marc any day over Adam. When I hear Marc I think of Freddie and his story. When I hear Adam, I don't.

I love when people say Marc is an impersonator. He naturally sounds like him. They even look similar, so yeah.

As Marc himself says, looking like Freddie isn't just a visual thing, it naturally by genetics and anatomy contributed greatly to the sound.

I didn't say they were. But Queen fans go to see Brian and Roger, not Adam. B & R could be singing with Beiber or Sivan, and the fans will go. They will not put Marc because he is close (but still not quite) to Freddie's range. That makes it look like they are trying to "replace" Freddie (like Arnel for Steve Perry) to achieve the same sound. They want a stage presence and someone who can sing but not someone who sounds like Freddie, hence Lambert. Personally, I think they should have chosen a female singer to avoid this issue.

I think he is better than lambert. But in this one, he is miles of Freddie too. Marc is very close on many of the songs, but not this one. Probably down to Freddies voice 'thinning' towards the end. But probably sounding better than ever.

Actually, Marc Martel as incredible as he is, doesn't have Freddie's voice.....He by his own admission is a "Voice Impersonator" and can sing like other voices too. Queen does not want a "Freddie" copycat.......They us Marc for the Extravaganza and Adam for Queen + Adam Lambert. Adam Lambert is a dime a dozen. There's at least three people at his level of talent in any year of any talent show. I have never seen anyone sing like Marc Martel on those shows. They "sink very quickly" because they are not all that talented and don't get the FULL studio backing. If you make the top 10 you will get at least an album release and sales of over 100,000, which is a lot more than many will ever get. But even though there are tens of thousands who tryout, most good singers know if they should even bother competing, and most bad singers don't realize they really aren't very good. If I had a contest for painters, and a national tryout, I'd get thousands of entries that are no better than paint by numbers and only a few of actual merit. Again, many THINK they are good. To make it in today's POP music you have to have a LOOK, A MARKETING MACHINE, AND ONE OF THE FIVE SONGWRITERS THAT WRITE ALL THE TOP 20 HITS. The rest can be taken care of by production and autotune. True. Not even all winners go anywhere, which just shows that the talent level still isn't that good. Adam had the remarkable strategy to make the most of his first after AI appearance on an awards show, to push a dancers face into his groin and grind away simulating oral sex. This event redoubled his fame and bad boy image and was imminently more marketable than just another good voice. I made this video for people to sound off why they prefer Adam or Marc as a stand in for Freddie. Some forget to say WHY. They just say which one they like. I really am interested to hear the "WHY." You certainly can appreciate Adam, and enjoy his music, but personally I do not. I've purchased all 15 albums put out by Marc Martel (Solo, and with Downhere). I'd never even download a free track by Adam. Again, this is subjective opinion, but I am not a fan of the current state of popular music.

apokab To answer your questions in order. 1. Because he was openly gay. 2. Because he was openly gay. "Homophobic" America was in the midst of the cultural shift to Homoexhaltic. Evidenced by the fact that if I, a heterosexual man would have done what Adam did on national TV to anyone male or female, I would have been locked up for sexual assault and would be in the registry of sex offenders for life. But the cultural response to Adam was for the most part: "wicked cool!" It helps that Adam has talent as well, but I know of hundreds with more talent of which no one will probably ever know the names. Marketability trumps talent in our culture today. I agree Marc channels the passion and musicality. He isn't hopped up on melisma. Marc isn't the stage presence Freddie had, but is sincere and respects the material. He also had the power and USB afraid to personalize things, he does imitate, he literally just performs. It's like a great conductor leading a performance of Beethoven we know the songs but subtlty counts

Marc, definitely Marc, all the way!! I have never heard anything so close to sounding like Freddie before.

One of the things that made Freddie great was his ability to change tones and vocals to go from Vaudeville to Heavy Metal and back again. He sang so many styles as part of Queen's catalog. Adam has only one style, and in all these years he has never broadened his abilities. Martel adds opera (beyond Freddie's sound in Barcelona) and Buckley-like falsettos to all that Freddie did. Very versatile.

Freddie's singing away up there in heaven while Marc Martel's looking after things down here.

Adams voice is thin, like tearing a piece of paper, Marcs voice has that growl Freddie was also famous for. Lambert has great vocal abilities, but to me, this isn't even a contest.

My god, Adam is even more horrific in Queen than what I thought... It's not about replacing Freddy, but Queen should have Marc for one reason only: To keep the music and voicing as pure and close as possible to Freddie

José Antunes - I kind of agree, he sounds so over the top and exaggerates and over sings everything, and just is gimmicky. Marc on the other hand is the embodiment of Freddie's presence, vocally.

O Adam Lambert canto muito bem, mas Freddie Mercury é muita coisa para a voz dele. Marc Martel tem uma incrível semelhança com a voz de Freddie Mercury. Marc Martel é insuperável.

Did it occur to anyone that the reason why Marc was chosen with Queen Extravaganza and not with THE band QUEEN is probably because it's painful for Roger and Brian to have Marc perform with them? I have chills when I hear Marc sing and I cry, and I'm just an ordinary fan. So imagine how it'd be for Roger and Brian?

I am sure from the clips I have seen that it would be toughest on Brian and I am sure Roger also. But come on rehearsal would certainly help with that. We would still be missing a crucial piece the the original without Deacy but tell me they wouldn't have more following in North America and Europe with authentic sounds. The biggest problem I have with Adam is he isn't from that genre, and cant pull off the original Queen feel in concert. There is little doubt to me that Marc cannot perform the whole catalogue. Some songs fit Adam OK and these are his best. But others he butchers. Can't say that about Marc although he falls short on some songs in QUEX catalogue. But hey he isn't Freddie. True maybe Marc doesn't have the camp onstage as Adam. But Freddie mixed it in well and knew when and how to make it cool. Adam over does it and that is his genre shining through into Queen and is what keeps me reserved to the" Its OK attitude ". Marc is a truer to himself performer and his YT channel with the hits of the 90s show how much talent he has on his own. He would be great with queen assuming Roger and Brian could keep up (jk guys}.

Queen picked Lambert because they did not want another Freddie. They just wanted to make money on the nostalgia factor and the popularity of Lambert. And also, they wanted to continue playing. Now Marc, is the one for the people who truly enjoyed Freddie's voice and nuance. The brilliance of the combination of instruments, voice and arrangements.

It's simple....everyone who prefers Marc's voice....go to Marc's concerts imitating Freddie's voice and singing Queen's music....and enjoy yourself.....no problem.

His career is soaring just now I'm not telling you, you can find out for yourself as I said he has a very successful career not dwindling like you say. Marc Martel is outstanding! I understand that Queen members didn't want to replace Freddie with someone who sounds so much alike...but damn!!! Marc deserves it, and most of all Freddie Mercury deserves to have his songs sang by the most talented artist, and that one IS Marc Martel!

BECAUSE BRIAN AND ROGER CHOSE ADAM because he's the best singer, best performer, has a great work ethic, a great sense of humor, and a sense of style. He's also flamboyant, handsome, and can sing any genre of music. Sounding like Freddie was not their criteria.

Brian and Roger don’t want an impersonator like Marc cause it would feel like they’re replacing Freddie. Adam is unique and that is exactly what Brian and Roger wanted. They wanted someone who sounds nothing like Freddie and who can sing Queen’s songs extremely well. Adam has said in countless interviews that he is not replacing Freddie, all he wants to do is honour Freddie’s and Queen’s music.

I think with Adam Lambert the two band founders want to go a modern way into the future. In memory of their fantastic frontman Freddie Mercury, they want to protect his memory because Marc actually sounds 100% like Freddie. That´s increadable when your closed your eyes. I'm looking forward to Marc in January 2021 at "One Vision of Queen in Frankfurt / Main.

I’d prefer Freddie but since I can’t have him Mark any day

I don't know how you reached that conclusion. Martel is almost doing an impression of Mercury, (which isn't a bad thing) and Adam Lambert is a phenomenal singer.

The only thing Adam Lambert and Freddie have in common is, they are both gay.

Freddie Mercury had that something special. He along with Queens originality made these songs as special and powerful as they are. If another group put out these songs I dont know if I would like them like I do. Adam Lambert dont pull me in like Freddie did. He dont even come close. (I speak only for myself so no need to freak out). Marc Martels voice isnt exactly like Freddies although it freaked me out when I heard him in a GOOD way! But he brings Freddie back when he sings so the Freddie fans want him. He is better at these songs then Adam is. Adam reminds me of George Micheal who I was never so crazy about (no offence intended). Here on youtube I have been watching Marcs videos and I dont find myself interested in Adam singing with Queen at all.
