I'm pulling an all-nighter while finishing a big Uni project which is due tomorrow. I enjoyed your calming voice while finishing up some formating on my paper and just while pausing the video to concentrate on a few more difficult tasks I read your discription and you beeing already in 2025 made me laugh and eased my stress. Thank you😊

It always seems to happen!! I think I need to cut into a few of my sweaters and add more length to the sleeves because it worked well with my Franky

I exclusively knit socks on magic loop. A tip to avoid laddering: on the SECOND stitch of the new needle, tug a bit tighter on your working yarn. You can do it on the first stitch, but the second stitch is the one that really matters! This technique also works for DPNs. I LOVE magic loop, its so portable and a lot easier to stop in the middle of a row!

I agree. Pull the second stitch. When knitting the first stitch, try to keep the needles close together. You want the least distance between the needles.

I’m taking notes 😃 also, now I need all of the books 😳 I’m a Graphic Designer and beautifully designed books just hit the spot, even if I don’t use them (looking at you cookbook pile🙈)

While I love beautiful physical books, I find I don’t really like them for knitting because they aren’t portable 😅 I realized that I much rather have a pdf but it’s always good to support the designer so I’ll keep buying them haha

A tip I use for magic loop socks is to imagine the end stitches on each needle belong to their own sides, like you are knitting a rectangle instead of two parallel lines. So if you are knitting a 64 stitch sock then stitch 1 and stitch 64 make up one side of your rectangle and stitch 32 and 33. I kind of hold my needles and knit those stitches accordingly if that makes sense!

Thanks for the tip! It’s kind of hard to imagine the stitches now but I will thinking of this when I cast on a project with magic loop 😅😊

You have an absolutely beautiful craftmanship (?) - I don't know what to call it, but I'm constantly impressed by how beautiful your stitches look - like machine knit quality. Is that tension? I dunno. I'm knew to all this professional knitting stuff, but I do admire your humility. Another thing I like about your channel is that you're not afraid to knit or admit that you use acrylic yarn. That makes you so much more relatable to me 😇 You are a very talented knitter and I admire your skill!

Ahh thank you! I started knitting as a uni student so I was under a tight budget! Now I love trying different brands, but a lot of affordable yarn lines are still my go too ☺️

I have the same challenges with magic loop. Can never avoid the laddering. I just used dpns for my Monday sweater to see if I prefer that and the answer is no. So I think I’m going to try to stick to small shorties. Good luck with the sock knitting!

Aww thank you sheri! I find DPNs to be the most intuitive but I desperately want to like small shorties because they’re so much more portable! My hands tend to cramp with them but I think it’s one of those things where you body has to adjust over time

Thank you for sharing that there's a way to lengthen sleeves without unraveling all the ribbing! I was planning on lengthening a couple of my old sweaters that don't fit me the way I'd like and I was just going to unravel everything😅

So funny! I too got the same sock book for Christmas AND I've never knit a single pair of socks either. I also want to knit a vanilla sock to try my hand. I'm going to use Norman's beginner sock (nimble needles) because I love how he makes us measure our foot and our gauge to determine what number of stitches to cast on, how long to knit, etc. I'm looking forward to seeing how things go!

I’m working from the same Sandnes booklet as we speak (the second one you mentooned)! Doing the Oxford cardigan 🥰 I believe Sandnes garn just released their patterns online, but I’m not sure if those were in english as well. But I’m looking forward to having them in pdf format as I prefer reading patterns on my iPad and not having the booklet lying around.

as someone who hated magic loop and thought short circulars or dpns would work better, and then went back to magic loop and loved it 50x more, I definitely encourage you to try magic loop again!! I find if I tighten up the 2nd stitch on the needle after each turn rather than the first one it prevents the laddering!

I was wondering is there a special technique for the neater shaping at the under arm on your lakes pullover? I’d love to learn how to modify a current wip using this technique to achieve a neater finish! Thank you and great video! 😊

No special technique but a m1r increase is worked after the first few stitches and a m1l increase is worked before the last few stitches! ☺️

Glad it's not just me that's found Sandnes patterns confusing lol!! I bought two of their pattern booklets (including the one you were gifted!), and omg I felt like I was sent the booklet in the wrong language. They're oddly vague. One of the patterns says "work in rib st" meanwhile I'm pretty sure they're referring to Fisherman's Rib. I also have my eye on the River Cardigan! Still heavily debating what color to make it in
