Great job on your colourwork. It looks awesome. Best advice is do what feels best for you. Some catch floats some only after 8 to 10 some never catch. You are using 100% wool. They will ‘felt’ together. If you do get a bit of puckering it is normal. Blocking will fix most things. Have fun with it.

Enjoyed your podcast! Like seeing different types of yarn, from big box stores to nicer yarns. Also nice to hear about designers that are new to me. Keep up the good work. I like it when KZreadrs say they don’t want to stress themselves out putting out a content or having arbitrary deadlines on themselves. It’s more fun for me to watch other people having fun 😊.

Glad to hear that - I enjoy working with all kinds of yarn and discovering new brands to keep things fun! I was worried that I needed to have multiple FOs for each episode but that’s definitely not what I look for when listening to podcasters so I shouldn’t put that pressure on myself - thanks for the reminder!!

Thank you for a great podcast! Regarding floats, I think the long floats will cause you problems as it is so easy to catch and pull on them. Personally I always catch floats every 3rd stitch or max 4 th. But perhaps you can apply Laddeback Jacquard to catch them afterwards. It is a neat method.

Good to know! I thought floats were to help with tension but I since learned from a friend that it’s to stop the yarn from catching - a rookie mistake I guess haha 🤦🏻‍♀️😂. I may try to work them again and look into that technique. Thank you ☺️

Don’t worry to much about 100% woolen socks: Visible mending looks so nice. I‘m thinking about intentionally mending a new sweater. 😅

For other socks I have made with the heel flap and gusset they have you slip the first stitch on the right and wrong side and then pick up a stitch for every stitch. You should still have picked up the same amount of stitches this way

Ah I see! It think that may solve the issue for me! I’ll have to try that out or maybe a different heel construction for my next pair!

Smart to go with petite knit socks- my gauge is too tight for her patterns , but usually spot on with ozettas! So if I was to do DK I'd probably try hers instead 😂 - no one wants to gauge swatch such a tiny project 😅

That Cognac Sweater turned out so beautifully! I think you're definitely fine taking on an entire colorwork sweater for your first colorwork project! I've always just went for it, even if I had never done something before haha! You already have so much experience anyway so you'll definitely be fine 🙃 It's looking great already! 🌻

Ahh good to know - thanks for the encouragement!! I wasn’t really inspired by any smaller colourwork projects so I just dove in with an entire sweater haha. I may regret it later…but the colourwork motif is pretty easy so far

Lovely episode. I enjoy your calm and cheerful style of presenting. I am tackling cables this year. Colorwork is on my list (I’ve done a hat, didn’t turn out great, but also not a disaster) but I haven’t the courage yet. Go you!!

Ahh you can do it!! I’ve been enjoying the challenge so far - it’s really rewarding and if I mess up (which I’ve done a few times already with my wave sweater haha), yarn can always be frogged 😉

This was a lovely episode! Thank you so much for comparing the cognac sweater to the lento, I just preordered some gorgeous hand dyed and was planning on making the lento just because it seems like the only good option but the construction of this is amazing!!! Definitely will knit it 😊

I knit the Sunday socks out of lion brand fisherman's wool... also no nylon content and they have held up really well. They were knit in March 2023. No signs of wear and I wear them a lot. They do fit in one of my pairs of boots so they've had that friction as well. The real plus is that they only took about a week to knit both socks. I didn't have the issue with holes at my gusset pick up so I can't give you any advice there. It was my first pair using magic loop and I followed her tutorial linked in the pattern. It is in another language but there are subtitles. However... reading subtitles and watching what she was doing required a lot of rewinding. Anyway... enjoyed your podcast.

Omg!!! hi making a sweater that looks exactly like yours, including the icord neckline! I’m using old knitting book written by Barbara Walker. It’s called knitting from the top down, and it gives you instructions on how to make your own sweater with contiguous sleeves

I have a few…it’s hard to narrow down since they’re all great in their own way 😅 Ewe Knit (beautiful and great for handyed yarn), Knitomatic (consistent stock of cascade, drops and sandnes garn) and Romni Wools (great finds in their basement) are my top three right now

I don't wanna throw shade on spektakelstrik, but I purchased many patterns from her and came across mistakes in every pattern that I knitted so far. I haven't knit each and every one that I bought from her, but to be honest, this experience certainly lowered my motivation to try out the other one's I have from her. especially because I got into contact with her every time I came across the mistakes so that she can alter her patterns and she never even said thank you. and also considering that this is some kind of work that testknitters usually do, who are compensated for their efforts in whatever way, I am not too fond of her as a designer anymore. which is sad, because her designs certainly are pretty cool, but Idk, I feel like I have to be able to trust in the work of a designer, because if I would be able to calculate patterns myself, I would do it. and it's just frustrating if you have to frog back hours of knitting because there's a whole segment of increases missing or, as you mention, the increases are not the way they should be.

So sad to hear that was your experience! I actually have a few of spektakelstrik patterns but have only knit one with no issues (Nellie Top!). It’s unfortunate to hear as I find her designs really suit my personal style ☹️
