Besides being the beautiful game, another reason soccer is so popular around the world is that you can never underestimate your opponent, even if it is the underdog. Maybe 1 out of 10, or 1 out of 100, there is always some chance.

@@jeronimoepic2946 when it comes to women's football yes, Colombia were (and still are) massive underdogs. This isn't their male team; female football is relatively new in South America (Brazil is the exception).

France is a elite enough team to not need two penalties to get a result from Colombia give them their props.

France was really unlucky. They should have been awarded two penalty kicks. On both occasions, Colombian players touched the ball by hand in the penalty area, with the first being clearly an intentional handball, which should have even led to a red card. It seems that poor officiating is going to ruin the Women's World Cup this time. The referees need to do a better job in the knock-out stage. At the same time, I'd still like to give credit to the Colombian girls. They did a wonderful job as a whole team.

Sportslover its not just touching the ball by hand, it has to be deemed a intrusion into if the game was highly interrupted by the touch, and also if the kicker of the ball is manipulating the trajectory of the ball to touch the defenders' hand, which was a trick done in mens football in the past, notably by Diego Maradona.

The French keeper had no small part in the defeat, let alone the referee and I heard from an independent source that the French were upset at the Colombian tactics and Necib threw the ball at one of her own players. Sounds like the French were mentally fragile.

Surprising to see France getting ripped apart like that.

@@davidchez513 Colombia comes from Columbus ( Christopher) or cristobal colon- so it's really from a Latin precedence .That's why in English you can say it anyway you like ...I know they teach you that it should be Colombia , but that's in. the Spanish language. There are many other ways to pronounce it as there are languages in the world .Would you say Romania? Or Rumania ? So there....

Columbia No. 10, by the name USME, who was the scorer for the second goal, is a superb talent, excellent left footer with outstanding football skill and intelligence. What an outstanding quick pass by USME for the breakaway in the first goal. In the second score, she was doing that turnaround volley for clearance. Then French keeper wants to show her ball control skill rather than play safe. USME for make an excellent play leading to the goal in Columbia Vs Mexico as well. French is a very good team. And they will eventually show it in this WC. Overall French and Columbia are two very strong teams in this group.

wow, you know soccer is boring when one of the highlights is the temperature, humidity and wind direction.

It's well-known sad story for French women's team. In some games they dominate but can't score. Then they chase the score and have like 20 shots and still can't score. If they want to win next World Cup in France and be number one team, they have to learn how not to lose games to weaker teams in important games and how to finish all their chances. Same story was in the spring of 2018 when they could have beaten USA 4-1 if we look at their chances and shots. USA didn't have any shots in 2d half at all. And game ended up 1-1. Clinical finish and less nerves in final third.

Now Colombian midfielder Yoreli Ring-Gong is joining forces with heavyweight puncher Lady Ambragger. They conducted a cardiovascular research and found that the USWNT is heartless.

A win by both will leave Colombia scrambling for third best place finish with Mexico out.On the other hand a win by France, and a draw between Col. and Eng. will see France top the group with Col. 2nd., and Eng. scrambling for possible best third.

Goals can come from good plays or from mistakes. You can';t disqualified those from mistakes, or don't count points from interceptions, or HRs from bad pitches. Yesterday Argentina against Paraguay, scored one goal from an error and one from a "shady" penalty, but Messi was there and everything was not only OK, it was "great" (according to those guys from beIN. You make mistakes, you pay.

The semi-final between the U.S. and Germany was not an upset. THIS was an upset.

The goalkeeper of France made a huge mistake.
