It has nothing to do with not wanting to waste time or being Japanese. Players all over the world do that after scoring when they're just tying the game or still down in the score, as for them it doesn't feel like a win completely, so they don't celebrate completely or don't celebrate at all.

This video is the most viewed women's match on the FIFA channel. This WWC 2011 final was the most important match in history for women's football to spread all over the world. Morgan, Miyama, Wambac, and Sawa. Kaihori and Solo who defended the goal of the penalty shootout. People around the world were moved by the final battle between the two countries. This match was the catalyst for a big step forward for women's football. The real winner of this match was women's soccer. Since this match, the world has come to regard WWC as the most important event. Surprisingly, this WWC2011 was treated as a qualifier for the London Olympics for European teams. Until 2011, the Olympics were considered more important than the WWC. The match was the most important match in the history of women's football.

Look at the bigger picture. One team keeps winning isn't good for the popularity of the sports. Sure, Japanese team had some good luck but more importantly, they weren't giving up when they were behind and kept coming back. That's what makes the sports exciting to watch, under dog beats the odds.

allgoo19 Absolutely agreed and well said! The American women's team are definitely one of the best teams but if they keep winning every cup it would be pretty boring, less people would watch and hatred would be spreading to the Americans. It's def great to see other teams win at least once and to show the world that every nation has good moments and can be true inspiring underdogs

+elvismendoza150 says: "Shame how the U.S. Women's soccer team is better than the men's -_-" == For the defense of the men's US team, US doesn't have a long history of professional soccer league unlike other countries. Even today MLS business is much smaller compared to other pro sports in US. On the other hand no country had women's professional soccer team until recently and still not many, so basically all women's team started out at level field, except US that is. If you ever heard of the term "soccer mom" you probably can see the enormous popularity of the sports among young girls in US. and it has been for decades that way, they have been itching to get started something like women's World Cup. It will eventually even out among the countries as more girls get into the sport and elite players get contract and go play for foreign countries. As for the men's soccer in US, it'll take much longer because the lack of motivation. Young kids just don't try soccer.

I remember this as if it was yesterday. An absolutely amazing story for the japanese team and a thrilling final even to watch on tv. wish I could have been in the stadium. I also love that it was all the key players of both teams (who are all somehow linked to one another) who scored in the regular time. Alex Morgan as the talented new youngster forward sprinting away like a young horse and Aya Miyama as Sawas strategic right hand face to face to her starkeeper friend Hope Solo opened the score. Then veteran and superstar Abby Wambach scored as she always does before her friend and equally superstar on the other side, Homare Sawa, equalized in the most dramatic fashion. In the end of course all of the other players played a key part in their succes but to see the creme de la creme, the bestest players of both, that are also friends and former team collegues scoring and keeping alive the hopes and dreams of their nations in this most important of matches....it just adds even more impact for me. A legandary match.
