Founder and star member of Osibisa, Teddy Osei, has been talking to Arise as a special guest of Talking Africa. Osibisa are one of the greatest bands to have come from Africa, having released 22 albums, had six number one hits and played a pivotal role in developing an awareness of African music among European and North American audiences.

Mr Teddy Osei I met you there in Cape Town and you were so nice to let me dance on the stage and you asked me that what are you doing here.? Because it was all white and I was only black there and moreover you were very quiet and I was really sure you did prayed first and later you let every body try to dance ewes dance well God the Creator bless you dearly Amen Amen
Hello to Teddy. I played guitar with Cats Paw for a while . I remember Teddy came to my house one night and told me he was changing the name of the band to Osibisa which meant "Fire". I did not like the name and quit being a member, which I truly regret............. JIMMY from Barbados,

I thought it meant Criss Cross Rythmns ?, Fire was one of their songs.

Osibisa have always said the name Osibisa means criss cross rythms that explode with happiness, Fire was one of their earliest songs.

Ha ha ha, so the Fire drove you away from all the sex, drugs and rock and roll that unfolded not so long after your departure.
