Found a Secret Nuclear Bunker Under an Abandoned House | URBEX
The most secret and fascinating objects left from the former communist state are those that lay in plain sight all along. Today we discover a hidden nuclear bunker on the outskirts of a small Croatian village. Constructed in the 1950s by the Yugoslavian national army, it was part of a top secret communications network used to monitor and relay military information across the country in case of war. Each site had optical visibility with at least 3 others, forming a spider web like communication structure across the country. They were designed to withstand any nuclear or biological attack, with generators and all other radio equipment placed deep underground. Today, locals are still in the dark as to what was happening beside their homes at this heavily guarded place for more than 50 years. Join us inside as we uncover what's left. #abandoned #urbex #bunker #coldwar

I love bunkers, especially those with a cold war background! I understand there are quite a few of those in Croatia / ex-Yugoslavia - if I had a free wish, I'd ask for more videos like this one. 😏 At 13:50 the gravel is likely part of the air filtration system, but not so much to filter out any particles but rather to cool down the hot air in case of a nuclear blast in the vicinity. Only after the air is cooled down below, lets say 50⁰C, it passes through the filter drums you found earlier. The gravel basicly absorbs the heat as the air is sucked through it.

Thanks for watching! Just a hint, but there is a video coming up of an even bigger bunker and more planned in the future, stay tuned. 😉 That makes sense, because the gravel was right on the opposite side of the filter drums. The main air intake was probably through the emergency exit we came out.
Some bunkers for communication hidden under houses actually had the antennas hidden under the tiles in the attic. As long as no metal and the correct clay tiles etc were used the roof didn't interfere to much with the signals.
Very cool, a home like that might be a good idea these days.

who wants to survive a nuclear war that said i have made my own bunker under the stairs lo
Amazing! Thanks for sharing!
The blocks might be for a blast wall to construct in front of the operable doors. Perhaps moved aside for the removal of the equipment when the bunker was decommissioned. There might be other doors behind the neatly stacked wall of blocks shown in the access pit. Just a guess...

It could be, but they are quite light, so they wouldn't add much protection.

@@benjaminrupp4523 That's right. The doors will be closed and the blocks are stacked in 2 or more rows (depending of the radiation to be expected) in the door frame.
Wow loving the look of that bunker folks :D
Cool exploration! It's always good to come across other fellow urban explorers channels. Liked and Subscribed! 😎
BRAVO! Awesome explore! Thank You Both, Peace.
Your one of the few explorer's who know what they are talking about and not the usual conjecture and guess work.
I wasn't aware of this channel. They have a lot of 1950s bomb shelters here and a lot never discovered yet. a lot of Americans made them at the hight of the cold war. a lot of Americans went around scared to death of nuclear war and the only thing that killed them was father time they died from old age. They still have a lot of people like that now they are called preppers.

theres a few massive regional government shelters near here,,for all the kit in them they were only designed to operate for 3 weeks after a nuclear attack ,,after that anybody inside would be in the same position as everyone else,,,irradiated air water and food with catastrophic damage to everything for hundreds of miles

Very interesting Thanks for sharing your video . I cant believe the ground water has not perked through the concrete yet . Very well built . I hope All is well with you guys . 🙏🏻

Amazing video. Noticed some things that made sense when you discovered the German equipment. The overall layout for the radio equipment looks very similar to the tried and proven WWII German bunkers' gear layout. The cabinet setup, too, even when the communications technology must've certainly been more advanced during the Cold War. The concrete blocks with a handle could've been ready to reinforce some pre-planned parts of the bunker should a conflict begin, you can use them on top of a ground door (like for the generators), you can use them against a door (with the handle facing the occupants, obviously), you can use them to build a ladder, etc. Or to create curiosity in explorers from the future :-D.

Thanks for the details! I'm still baffled as to how light these blocks are, maybe so they would be easier to carry. 😄
At 13:30 that isn't a tap, it's a hand pump to pump water manually up to the top of the tanks, or maybe to Prime and underground well pump. Some of these bunkers had deep wells under them and pumps to bring water up for use and storage as they weren't on mains water systems.

Didn't know that, thanks. Makes sense, looking at it now.
A little clean-up and one could have a very nice home.. thx for bringing us along..
Beautiful view all around that area 👍
Nicely done, the Blocks in the Equipment Shaft have handles to move them around. In Case of a Nuclear war the Blocks would be used to seal that double Door and make it radiation proof with them. They contain Lead and Bor, wich helps shielding the Bunker against Radiation. Bricking up would be done from inside tzhe Bunker, without concrete, so that these shaft could also Be used as an Emergency Exit.

Thanks for the explanation. Looking at it now, it makes sense because they could be easily stacked to form a wall.
I've done a few bunkers in my time but this entrance is pretty mad 💪
I have a friend who used to live it a nuclear proof at&t bunker. It was like new inside. One day he got sick and called ambulance, they had to take him out of there using the escape stairs. The ambulance crew did not lock the stairs and drug addicts came in, they stole all the copper and vandalized it by breaking everything and spray painting it. When he returned to the bunker the shock of seeing it destroyed killed him, its in worse shape now than where you went. Its up for sale now but nobody wants it due to the damage, so sad, bunkers are awesome!
05.37 yes a lightbox, your quite right a salted glass or white transparent sheet,So photographic plates or transparency could be viewed
Cool bunker aside, I’d fix that place up in a heartbeat.. amazing views and property!!
Good video boys! I will look for more! :)
Good place to go now days
That’s big of cable that site was an AM or shortwave transmitter

Now days these bunkers are bigger and deeper...
Very nice, this would make a nice home.

This is a BADASS video
I found some places like that leftover from WWII on this side of Oahu. The shaft & metal ladder going 5 or 6 storeys underground and an entrance horizontal of the underground living quarters. A blackboard was marked by Civil Defense and dated "1951". A 1995 closed Naval Air Station built in 1955 has doors like that made by Mosler a safe/bank fitings manufacturer. I took home the "Mosler" trademark. This was the Antisubmarine Warfare building. "Licensed" scrappers took home the massive diesel, radio tower & generator. Unlicensed scrapper took wiring & plumbing. I helped myself to odd hardware for personal use. I picked a Starr X Coca-Cola stationary opener and have it still, in Spanish, Tome Coca-Cola. It was all land seized from the Ewa Plantation Co., eventually paid for. Amrrican-Japanese farmers & fishermen had to wait for years for recompense after the war. In 1955 the military started to decommission and develop for the Cold War, you can go explore some of this after the 1995 wave of base closures.

There must be a lot of bunkers there, mainly because of the strategic position of the island. And even better when you find such pieces of history still there, left intact. 😄

@@TheLostTrails I've explored some of them from Taft era Coast Artillery to 1939 Fort Barrette, 2x16" guns near Kapolei. Scrapped shortly after the War with the M1890 10" mortars and 14" disappearing guns behind Diamond Head and at Waikiki beach, where there's an Army museum in the old emplacement. Fort Barrette looks like the Guns of Navarone from the movie.
