You have a lot of skills to perform this. Having the tools makes it a bit easier, but heads off for such a quick white to red transition. I hope you can make the red one as road legal as the white one. Great work and thanks for sharing

Mk2 Golf with a factory fitted ekectric motor, not go one of those in my collection. Now I need one to save converting one of my other ones.

are those jacks stable enough ? i like the addition of the big hour under the hood lol

what's not to like, if I was to do another conversion, a VW Rabbit as we call it here in the States is exactly what I would do, best of luck to you

Haha, det var kul att se, väldigt imponerande att fixa det på så kort tid, men samtidigt visar ju det att om man bara har tagit fram ett kit som passar en viss bilmodell, så skulle det gå ganska snabbt att byta drivlina. Väcker nog en hel del idéer bland oss som kollat på filmen 😅😃 Bra jobbat! 😃🤘

Va kul!! Nu är ju detta ett väldigt enkelt bygge då jag bara flyttat över prylarna i en annan bil för att köra billigt medans jag uppgraderar citystromern i vinter.

germany again: awesome how fast you swapped motor and gearbox between the 2 cars. Was it really a forklift motor in the citystromer? It looked very old as if VW did not want to develop its own. I cannot understand this because the Bosch engineers were not far away to develop a new electric motor. I have seen a couple of EV-conversions already but this was by far the fastest and advanced by a single person I ever saw! Well done and keep on with all you interesting projects!👍

Hi and thank you 😃 I understand your confusion. The motor or speed controller failed long time ago and therefore those has been changed by a previous owner. That’s also why I will install a more modern drive train to it. If it hade the original motor I definitely had rebuild it to its original form. But anyway, the leaf motor will make it so much useable. Thanks for your comment, I highly appreciate it 🤗

Motor swap can be a lot more and most important will be the question about the safety requirements a city stromer had to fullfill back in those days. I would expect that may be stronger springs for the heavier load will be required as an improved shock absorber and reinforced brakes for the higher weight. Therefore more parts have to be swapped if you pretend to rebuild a city stromer in a newer or better chassis. But I guess it becomes even a lot, lot harder by german standards at least due to the engine change on top to Nissan Leaf. Here it would be called a Frankenstein car cause it woud have lost its heritage and roots and it would be hard to get it street legal, I mean the paperwork will become tooooooo expensive, all the investigations required. Possible, but tons of money would be needed. But I likeyour ideas andcraftman ship and the story you are telling Car check every single year ? That is even more than in germany with a biannual car check or british MOT!

Springs and chocks will be changed, but as long as I don’t exceed the total weight and/or max allowed axel load it will be fine, at I hope so. I keep you updated☺️ Thanks for your comment.

For EU U need write rebuild project. Before, we needed to go and make legal for one year with a petrol engine, then u can rechange and have time for register electric. The some with road tax, for electric cars us 0 of small.
