Motor installation, dash removal, EV conversion Vw golf rabbit MK2, Update, Nissan leaf Em57 motor

Ғылым және технология

In this video, I will show you the Nissan Leaf motor installed in the vw golf citystromer and also when i remove the dashbord.
Volkswagen golf, citystromer was originally fitted with an electric motor together with a five-speed gear box. Sadly the original motor was gone for many years ago and that’s why I will try to restore the old feeling of the car, but with a new motor and a modern charging system instead, so it will be much more usable with today’s standard. I really hope that you like this video and please subscribe if you want to see more of them.
Thank you so much for watching!☺️

Thanks for sharing. The good old times when the wireharness wasn't so big. Good you removed all excess wiring, gives room and a lot of cleaness. And for the wack on the engine, sometimes a little passive agressive motion makes your life easier. Enjoy your build, you show a lot of craftmenship!

Hello from Germany again! I could not contribute to the Solax Inverter Problem, so I decided to stay calm but was following the work with HA very closely - have you found a solution yet? I was wondering about the construction of the VW frame with the new Nissan Leaf Motor and Gearbox - I would think it nees more strong interconnections to hold the motor in place while driving. And the old one looks still very rusty from my point of view. Anyway, keep on the good work and keep your community updated! 😊👍

Hi. It will definitely be more torque, but I think that it will hold up against it. I will change the rusty one before I paint everything. Thank you so much, I’m glad to have you here.☺️

Google Nissan Leaf with a Yasa ? charger, you`ll see from the image(video)it is a much smaller unit thus gives more clearance for the hood/bonnet... :)

No issue with the clearance anymore. 15-20mm is more then enough. Thanks anyway☺️

Why do you not use a newer version of the vw golf? Do you upgrade the dashboard or do you install the same old instruments? It would be gread if you install a lcd Display ;)

This is electrical from the beginning, I will just make it a little more modern. The instrument is very rare in this old mk2 with gauges for electrical states instead of the other fossil gauges. So I will definitely use the old one except for a small Soc display. You will find more information in the description. Thanks for your comment.

What is the weight comparison between golf and leaf engines? And do you need to use a clutch? I though it wasn't necessary

Sorry for my late reply. I do not know that yet. No I do not need the clutch, it just a fun thing to have just because the original citystromer had it. Thanks for your question☺️

Hello, Can you comment on the reliability of leaf motor? Im trying to figure out what the easiest/reliable and the most cost effective ev conversion would be between leaf motor or model 3. Our crashed model 3's in the US can be had for $6-10k just for context. Leaf even cheaper

Hi, regards the reliability, I don’t know, this is my first. But I think it is the cheapest and easiest ev converting. Thanks for asking☺️

No, sadly not. I have really looked around for that type of controller/canbus protocol. Hopefully someone will find a solution.
