Volkswagen golf, citystromer was originally fitted with an electric motor together with a five-speed gear box and a clutch. Sadly the original motor was gone for many years ago and that’s why I will try to restore the old feeling of the car, but with a new motor and a modern charging system instead, so it will be much more usable with today’s standard. I really hope that you like this video and please subscribe if you want to see more of them.
Thank you so much for watching!☺️
Registreringsbesiktad och klar😃

My first car was a golf 2 too. Loved it
Well done! hopefully will see the car on the road
I have found out last week that only 53 should have been built of this generation. There was also a Citystromer for the GOLF Mark 3 later. Good to have passed the MOT.

I'm happy for you that this is possible. In Denmark it would be practically impossible unless you had a metric s*it tonne of money to throw at testing and documentation, which makes "revive old car" unfeasible.

Thank you so much, it’s sad that it should be so hard for you guys outside of Sweden.
That was a really cool project! I owned a VW Jetta MK2 back in 1986 and still have a damaged Audi E-tron in the Garage. They asked for 26.000 Euro to replace 2 damaged battery modules and the damaged front engine. Insane. Looking forward to order a BMS in China to make something usefull out of the Samsung SDI battery packs.

Congratulations! I am highly impressed by your work. I am myself thinking about converting an old Corvette. Can you share the cost calculation of this conversion and restauration? I do understand what you intended to achieve with the clutch. But honestly: You created a modern car out of a scrap car. A modern car works without a clutch. Just connect it directly to the gearbox using the fixed direct gear and have the motor turning in both directions.
@flyingtools
2 ай бұрын
Thanks. About the clutch, that’s the hole idea with it, to keep the old feeling. But yes, it will be much easier to just use direct drive. But if so, i rather will use the original gear box from Nissan leaf.

You have 20 kWh more than my 2018 e-Golf 7. As you know I love your work. In Spain it would be impossible to get the vehicle documentation. Administration would ask us for some engineering reports justifying all the modifications made to the original vehicle. Enjoy your “new” car and show us travel and consumption videos.

Yes, its a little crazy. I not sure but I think it should be possible to export the car you like to modify to Sweden and then drive it to your country and do the work on it and then take it to sweden again and do the registration and when it’s road legal, important again to your home country. It’s not cheap that either but maybe possible.

@@flyingtools I also had a Golf MK2 and not long ago I bought an MK3 for my daughter that we had to unsubscribe for environmental reasons with the Barcelona City Council. What is true is that I love my eGolf but I see that the battery is small. I would be happy if I could expand the capacity to 60-70 kWh. Do you think it would be possible? Could the software and the display of the vehicle be modified?
@flyingtools
2 ай бұрын
Almost everything is possible, but in this case it will probably cost more than to buy another car with that capacity, and then all the coding, oh my… with the instruments and stuff, Volkswagen is not an easy car to work with when it comes to their canbus and software. That’s why I went with the leaf set up and not the drive train from a golf or e-up.

Congratulations! I am also planning a build with Resolve EV and starting with a 24kWh Leaf. So I am interested in how you plan to handle the BMS discrepancy on capacity.. Do you plan to upgrade just the BMS to, say the 62kWh Leaf BMS, or do you think you will find a 3rd party solution that will still work with the Leaf / Resolve system? Is the discrepancy caused by the different storage capacity, or the numbers of cells being less than originally? Thanks.

How so? Replaced the 20 year old DC forklift motor that wasn’t even the original even worse one that VW fitted, and replaced the really heavy led acid batteries with modern Lithium batteries with more than 4 times the capacity. Even went as far as making the motor cover look like the oem one the special products division fitted in Wolfsburg. Far from ruined. Ruined would be fitting a petrol engine to it.
