The book series Counselors and Kings by Elaine Cunningham is set in Halruua, it is a good read.

Very nice! I feel kinda bad for the guy, he seems like the nice guy being imprisoned. Also more info on the Netheril is always welcome as I want to create a campain where they return!

I was always unhappy about how Savras seemed to be the punching bag in lore. Imprisoned, defeated, hurled into the Abyss, etc. Very unhappy.

Man, I've looked for a lot of info on Savras and Mystra due to them being pretty core in a dnd campaign i've been making, and I don't know where you got this info, but what I could find is pretty different. It's all the same till Savras was captured in the scepter. From there, the Spell Plague happened after Mystra was murdered by Cyric and Shar. Asmodeus killed and consumed Azuth in order to obtain godlike powers, and Savras supposedly died during the Spell Plague, as the blue fire destroyed the Scepter of Savras. At least that's the info I could gather from the forgottenrealms wiki

Good info! Yeah the Scepter is from earlier editions so it very well may have been destroyed. Azuth was consumed by Asmodeus but Asmodeus made a deal with to consume another lesser deity to free Azuth as he was having split personality with Azuth. Followers of Savras believe Savras hid protected in the scepter, that getting captured was forseen by him and by design.

I believe this is the 4th Edition lore. Forgotten Realms (and by extension the other published settings) has had an ongoing lore since at least 2e, I think it started at the tail end of 1e AD&D. Every time a new edition comes out, there's some calamitous event that explains the differences between editions. 1e->2e was the Time of Troubles (when the gods had to walk Toril in mortal form), 2e->3e was a Vecna "trilogy" of adventures, Vecna Lives (where he's tossed into Ravenloft), Vecna Reborn (where Vecna is trying to free himself from Ravenloft l, and Die, Vecna, Die! (where he escapes Ravenloft to Sigil and tries to remake the universe), 3e->4e was the Spellplague (during which Mystra was killed, Abeir reformed with Toril, and Asmodeus absorbed Azuth's power and reorganized the planes), and 4e->5e was the Second Sundering (which brought Mystra back, ended the Spellplague, and separated Abeir and Toril again).

What's that? An Artifact that doesn't punish the player severely for using it? No no no! CLEARLY that won't do at all! Also, just by the by an item with charges usually needs a way to recharge.

I have a divination wizard in my players group. Might be an interesting thing for the campaign in the long run :D

Jorphadan: If you haven't found one seek out a copy of "Fantastic Treasures", both volumes 1 and 2. They were put out by Role Aides back during EAAARLY D&D. I'm not above yarr-harr-harr for old books, but this one, I made it a point to hunt down both at Half Price Books. Really good content in there.

Was looking to make a character somehow related to netheril and the shadovar seemed a bit extra but now I got Harluaa thanks👌🏼

Press F for Savras, he's a really cool god victim of being overshadowed by his superiors and relinquished to the role of "that diviner who got imprisoned in a staff".

Love your videos! My wife is joining a campaign I'm starting shortly. It's her first time playing. She chose to be a knowledge cleric with Savras as her deity. Any suggestions on how to role play him in their interactions. Obviously clear and concise statements with truth at their center, but I'm trying to figure out a way to give him a little personality so they can form a bit of a master/apprentice bond.

Hey... You should really talk about the Highfire Crown. I know not much is known, but its on par with the Nether Scrolls in terms of raw power. Its also one of the coolest artifacts in the game, and its not very well known, which is a shame! Please do a video on it!
