@@YakBat I watched the series through twice, first for initial impact and impressions w/o reading or seeing behind the scenes or reading the books, 2nd for analysis. The fact that they can't even pronounce the characters' names right shows how little they respected Martin's work. And after my analysis I decided some of their main goals was highlighting death and trying to put as much grey between right and wrong as possible.

Books - daenerys is smart. Show -dany kind forgot about the iron fleet.

@@Tattletale97 She was competent at her age but so were other characters her age or younger and I wouldn't call them smart. Robb was brilliant on the battlefield with tactics but not that great with diplomacy and in a way was a brat when it came to council. Dany was not dumb, but I wouldn't call her smart, her ignorance did show at times. This is like hearing people say Dany was good in the books even when GRRM himself never says that and has repeatedly labeled these characters as grey.

Actually that was Bran torching the iron throne. If you watch the scene again, he walks in, nudges Dany to make sure she’s dead, let’s out a positive squeal, smiles at his patsy, Jon, does an “I am dragon, hear me roar” victory dance, then torches the throne. He was also the one staring at Jon and Dany kissing after their joyride. Makes no sense for a “dragon,” but makes perfect sense if it’s Bran. I also think he burns the city and possibly skin changes Dany for burning the city, her Hitler speech, and her tyrannical nonsense in the throne room so Jon will kill her. One of Bran’s last lines is asking where Drogon is, then saying perhaps he can find him. I think it was supposed to be a lightbulb moment for people to realize there was a connection. I mean, why do you think he went all that way? I think he controlled a lot more than we realize. It mirrors our own world, where cia/military level surveillance and mk ultra mind control give the elite an unfair advantage over us.

The way Bran just totally dissed Meera out of the story never sat well with me either. She went through fucking HELL for him because she realized how important he was (plus her brother literally sacrificed his life for him as well)

There shoulda been an entire season depicting “the long night” like the one old nan talked about where children were born and starved and died all under darkness...women would smother their babies rather than see them suffer. A night that lasted a generation but no it lasted 45 mins lol pathetic.

That tale at the very beginning of the show is the moment that hyped the white walkers the most. However, not only were the undead not that much of a threat (half of the continent's armies at most took it down and a lot of them survived), but where's that climate hostility? All we get is a bit of snow that doesn't bother anyone and darkness that makes it hard for us to see what's happening...

The Night King should've visited all the graveyards in Westeros and used them to lay siege to the whole continent. It would've united everyone in a single purpose, and Cersei would have to eat her own lies since staying out and letting others die in the fight would be irrelevant. Not a single hail mary battle, all or nothing. Ridiculous plots require ridiculous amounts of plot armor.

@@Livvvid yup imagine if they held on to this man for dear life and took all of his advice and didn’t take him for granted and gave him all the power. He would’ve rearranged the entire show. He told them this story could not be told properly without having a minimum of 12 seasons with 10 episodes each at an hour length at minimum. When he first started writing these books he didn’t imagine the technology would advance where they could actually film a live action version....and that’s cutting over 50% of the material. They clearly did not listen. They copied his books for all the source material and then when those ran out and they wouldn’t listen to him he said your fucked good luck and good bye. Since that day not only did game of thrones go down hill and then off a cliff in season 8 it also happened to Dave and Dave’s career they were fired by Disney shortly after which actually happened to be the reason why they wanted to wrap game of thrones up and move on to that Disney money. Which actually baited them into showing their true colors, Disney would’ve been more impressed if they said we can’t come to Disney anytime soon we are committed to hbo George and most importantly the fans of game of thrones to see this project through to the end but instead they told Disney they could expedite the last couple of seasons (that’s why less episodes) and that showed Disney they were willing to cut corners and take shortcuts for the money. Their deal with Disney didn’t even last a full year and they were gone. 🤷‍♂️

Why couldn't they just get new executive producers for the show if David Benioff and Weiss weren't interesting in continuing the show

The ending... I heard someone say this about it "I've read a lot of GRRM's work, and this end is the darkest, most bleak, most nihilistic, and it's not even close" It really was nihilistic. Nothing meant anything. There were no themes. It just became "let's make these beloved characters just do some things."

Hey! Nice video. Another forgotten thing: the Wildlings' plot. They have been trying to go south of the wall so their people don't starve to death due to poor lands for growing crops, and freezing temperatures, for like a thousand years; yet when they have the chance to repopulate South of the wall, and the respect of the northern houses, they go back to the dead lands???? I got you one more: Bronn as master of coin: he is an assasin, it makes no sense. He literally says that he doesn't know how to count coins in one episode. Small things, but they show how D&D didn't care at all, didn't even re-watch their own show.

I thought so too, but eventually came up with the idea that since ritual cleansing is a thing for many spiritual people including myself, so maybe whatever’s in the necklace is in the bath? Perhaps oils and potions keeping her young until she puts the necklace back on?

@@Blood0cean season 6 were bearable and gave the battle of the bastards which is one of the greatest parts of the show. Season 5 was bad I agree. It felt like characters was suffering and dying because that was the theme of the show and it didn't felt natural to the flow of the story. Most of it felt forced. Season 6 was okay because it took it's time to build to the great battle which can be forgiven.

I mean, it was only one appereance and i don't know how many people recognized him, it's much better to not start a storyline ( northern's conspiracy) rather than ruining one ( DORNE !)

About Martin I don't know if this is gonna haunt him very long, I mean a series that I've obsessed over and over for years suddenly ended in the way that we both know and now it feels like the whole series never happened. I don't want to rewatch it because i would stop at the end of season four no further, and now I'm hyped for winds of winter, that's it. I'm positive that the Night King is the show's name for the Great Other. Mostly because the White Walkers are called The Others in the novels, and NK is their creator.

Bran was so 'cold' to Meera in that final scene. As she said, " So many people died for you... A simple thank you wouldn't hurt you selfish fuck !! ".

5:41 you forgot to point out something major about Quaithe... If I remember correctly she tolds Jorah already in season 2 that he will sail through the ruins of Valyria and that he'll need help afterwards she was clearly originally intended to cure Jorah's Greyscale... Not Samwell Update: I rewatched the scene now and though she doesn't exactly say that he will row through the ruins it's still foreshadowed that she will be the one who cures him as she is painting some protecting symbols on a man who will sail through the ruins of Valyria because any man who is planning to do so needs protection...she explains this to Jorah in a very chilling way... There you go

The abandoned plotline, among the many, that failed to deliver a much foreshadowed event was Danys pregnancy by Jon!! Why on earth did they set that up so much just to drop it all together??? In season 7, all the talk about Dany not being able to have children and her only children are her dragons and Jon telling her that the witch who told her she couldn't have children wasnt a reliable source and Tyrion begging Dany to name a successor so in case she died, her vision could live through someoene she trusted since she had no children. I mean, it was shoved down our throats and made sense to the statement that the ending would be bittersweet and to the theory that their child, who would be the literal creation of fire and ice, would live but they wouldn't!! It still drives me crazy to think about how much time was wasted on similar dropped plots, especially since they rushed the plots they did stick with and even created new ones that made no sense. They could've used that screen time to better set up all the character changes and not rush so much of seasons 7 and 8!!

So many bad things about the end but you gotta give props to pretty much everyone except the show runners. The casting is pretty much as perfect as we can get for almost every character. Even young Ned, like fuck I wanna watch a full Robert's Rebellion show with that guy as Ned

As I remember, Edmure was later taken by the Lannisters, so he probably was all the time at Casterly Rock :)

Oeh that could be the case. But casterly rock was left abandoned by Jaime to trick Dany and her army. Greyworm was stuck there but he rejoins later on anyways. So edmure and probably his man who weer also imprisoned at Castlery Rock, should have been able to join at least the great war. But yes I forgot about the part that Jaime was going to take Edmure prisoner. Nice catch

Just boycott everything D&D are part of in the future for this mess they did to the fandom. I will never ever pay money for something they will produce in their w(a-)hole lifetime (Star Wars, etc.)

Whilst D&D kinda forgot about these characters, the viewers certainly haven't forgotten about them.

I think Ellaria died before season 7 finished. I think Edmure remained prisoner because there were still guards at the Twins anyway. I'm really surprised that we don't know what happens to Ilyn Payne (probably died when Dany took the capital, but would have appreciated to at least see him die) and the pirate who is Ser Davos' friend, wtf has he done after bringing Stannis' army to the Wall?

I am not so sure about Ellaria. Because I just rewatched the scene (because of someone else's comment). Cersei says she will even keep her alive till her daughters bones turn to dust. According to science that is at least 40 years so if it was up to Cersei Ellaria would still be alive. I also rewatched the scene from edmure and Jaime. According to someones comment on him, Edmure was taken prisoner by the lannisters at castlery rock. That would mean he was there when Greyworm and his man were stuck there as well. It would have been cool to see that when Greyworm rejoins Danys army, Edmure would have made an appearance too. Yes Ilyn Payne will probably be handled in next video. I am going to go through Arya's kill list :D. Also the pirate will probably be a talking point! Thx for the comment!

@@Iamzani And thank you for the reply :) it would be a bit sad that it was Daenerys "indirectly" killing Ellaria, but I guess that's an option (unless her prison didn't get crumbled and they later find out she's still alive...ok too much fantasy for me 😂) about Edmure I've just watched the conversation between Jaime and Walder Frey at the end of Season 6 and Walder said that Edmure's in the cell, so I think he was still at the Twins (but I think in the books he's actually going to Lannisport or Casterly rock)

I think that the actor who play Ilyn Payne had died in real life. Which is one reason why we haven't seen him. But he was built up to be some character of significance and then just never mentioned again.

In the first few episodes of season 8, i can only presume of what happened because it was so dark that I could not see much of anything anyways. It was like a TV show for the visually impaired.

One of the characters that I noticed just vanishing is Alys Karstark, like you can see it happen during the Long Night, she's everywhere in the background the previous episodes, she's at the council, we see her walking side by side with Theon to go the Godswood and then we just never see her again, she isn't in the Godswood with Theon, we don't see her die and we don't see her body. She literally just vanishes.

Exactly my point and thoughts. Lord Reed should have appeared in the present in the show and not just in that flashback. He is key to revealing John's identity and we should have seen more.

There’s a popular fan theory among book readers that Daario Naharis and Euron Greyjoy are in fact the same person. If true, then it’s possible that the show runners missed this entirely and had to just drop the character of Daario when he stopped being convenient for them.

Recommend reading the books. They are way better than the show. Euron is cool, the Sand snakes are cool,and there are awesome characters like Patchface(a fool at Dragonstone),Aeron and Victarion Greyjoy,Arianne Martell. There's also FAegon and Jon Con,Lady Stoneheart, Quinten Martel,Marwyn the Mage,more faceless men. Baristan,Jojen, Rickon, Tomen, Myrcella, Shereen,Stannis and others are still alive. Read them,if you don't like reading you can listen to audio books on Audible.

Would it not have been super cool for the Night King to bypass Winterfell altogether and gone down to be the one that destroys King's Landing? Or least he go down with his dragon to do it? Then Cersei could have escaped through the tunnel in the crypts and been on the run with Euron while the Night King's new troops from KL came back up to Winterfell and attacked from all sides. Of course, the tactical aspect of that battle would have needed to make more sense to fit the time frame of this better, but it could have been written where Daenerys was gaining ground on the army of Wights until the NK and his new troops arrived. Then there would be 2 options fo Cersei: 1) with her new understanding of the concern of the NK, she comes back and saves the day with her extra troops, but then betrays Daenerys in some way after that battle is over 2) she goes further south or even across the sea and after winning the battle, Daenerys hunts her down I also believe it important that some big characters die during the battle with the NK. That keeps the realism that the first seasons had and allows the viewers to remain emotionally attached. In chess, you sometimes have to give up a few bishops and rooks to capture the King...

for the position of kings landing. the forest could have been cleared do to the fact that cersei wants a open area for her bowmen to fire on enemies who have no cover now that the trees are gone.

She was in the season trailer and everyone was so excited about this mysterious new Red Priestess and hopeful we would get answers about who/what R’llor is all about, and whether The Great Other is the same as the White Walkers.. and then the showrunners did NOTHING with all this build up!!!

Firstly, who doesn't find Kinvara.... "appealing." ;3 But seriously, if the show was put in the hands of better writers, the seasons following the fourth one would have been magnificent.

I didn't even think about that... Meera wasn't at the battle of the Long Night or whatever the fuck that battle was called. I mean she had as much reason to be there as anyone else, considering she is from the North as well. And she had a personal stake in the conflict with the NK considering she spent that much time helping escort Bran to the Three Eyed Raven and dodging him and his minions at the same time.

What annoys me about Bran's story is that he doesn't use his warging skills when the Night King shows up. Why doesn't he inhabit a wolf or something and try to fight?

D&D seemed to just really not care about any of the characters that were connected to the more mystical elements in the show

If some theories are to be believed we do see Howland Reed, a few people believe the guy sitting between Sam and Edmure at the council is him.

Forgetting that Little Sam wasn't Sam's biological child but instead Craster's really annoyed me. When they were above the Wall he was important enough for them to keep trying to take him. D&D just forgot about him. (And yes I know in the book he was switched with the son of the King Beyond the Wall. I'm reflecting on the show, not the books.)

Why were the Wildings at Castle Black when John returned? How did they know John was even returning?

The wildlings were waiting till spring so that the ice/snow would melt. Tormund states that they will set up camp at Castle Black and wait for the winter to be over something like this. But yes it is very convenient that it Jon happens to be in time.

Quaithe to me is the biggest frustration.

Edmure might have been released and sitting in Riverrun, but the Lannisters or Frey's had his wife and child prisoner. So he had to be neutral during the conflict.

Seems odd that the god of light and joy and fear would also be the same god that you can get insta preg and 2 days later have a black smoke assassin baby. Seems to not have light nor joy nor love in it.

I am not too familiar, but it looks like they had contract and HBO gave them full creative license. And it seems that even HBO doesn't care, otherwise they wouldn't let this show-killer see the light of day. Imagine spinoffs they could've had...

I don’t understand why they didn’t just hire different writers if the writers wanted to end the show but they had enough for 3 more seasons. That’s what every other studio would do. The end of Game Of Thrones was so out of left field, you could tell they just decided to do whatever they had to do to make it end. Felt like an unnatural progression.

NOBODY is talking about benjen Stark who was worshiping the lord of light. The night before he left the wall, Benjen was staring into flames before he got interrupted by Jon.

They did well the first four seasons because they had books and George R.R. Martin did many of the scripts. Season 5 and on he took a step back and you can tell.

“I don’t know! Ask David and Dan when they come through. We could have gone to 11, 12, 13 seasons"... Umm. Yea cool George how about publishing Winds of Winter instead of the 8 other books released between A Dance With Dragons and now....

Yes, Meera would absolutely not leave the fight just because Bran did not care about her anymore. That is just silly and it implies she was on a quest to find prince charming???? What???? She was on a quest to save life vs death. A quest so big her brother went willingly knowing he would die. Meera would want to fight the White Walkers and she was a qualified warrior. Even more so, she was one of the few who had actual experience north of the wall. And lets also not forget Meera would be heir and represent a Northern House. So, even if she was pissed at Bran, she would be loyal to Jon and want to support him. Now the big issue is that the showdumbers did not want to play the whole life vs death battle. They considered it a trope or whatever. So they wanted to focus on Cersei. Therefore, a lot of characters just got their stories removed from them. Meera being one of the more obvious ones. All things considered, still, they could have killed her fighting vs the White Walkers. I wonder if they did not because…..she was a powerful female warrior and political correctness is what it is in Hollywood these days loool Bunch of moronic people…..

I just hate the fact that I wasn't able to see Lady Stoneheart on screen.

D&D - “LET’S MAKE A STAR WAR”

I honestly feel bad for those who felt disappointed by this amazing show, but when you binge watch the entire series straight over the course of a couple of months instead of having to wait years for what must have felt like such a short 6 episode final season, there is no feeling of disappointment or anything being rushed. It flows perfectly and the story is incredible. Everything makes sense and I wouldn’t change a thing.

I like to write, I've read a LOT of different fiction and non-fiction and I must say: the character of Daario Naharis is just oozing possibilities out of every orifice. Sides? He'd come over with the Sons & Euron, turncoat against them, but then - when he saw Jon and Dany makin' goo-goo eyes at each other - ah, _then?_ The possibilities - are Jon and Daario sorta THE BEST fighters of their OWN continentS? Well, the whole thing just kinda drizzled out. There's this ridiculous pile-on for the DeeDees trip on the internet, by people who (mostly) couldn't write their way out of a wet paper bag with an atomic chainsaw (and a ship's rat up their ass?). !f there's a PRIMARY lesson for anybody to learn, it's that 10 years is at least 3 years too many to dedicate your life to SOMEONE ELSE'S characters. And, a broader look - it appears that with KZread - NO ONE will ever write a show that won't get ripped to shreds. LOST; BREAKING BAD; SOPRANOS; WHAT'S THEIR FACE AND WHOOSIT. Nobody can ever even know if they liked a show without quick finding out what everyone could tell them what they're supposed to like. Maybe everyone just hates their own self for getting too strung out on a fucking near-cartoon about dragons and swords and knights. I thought the music was great, the long shot camera work; Winterfell at a distance, Bear Island, lordy that VERY FIRST SHOT. ALL of the great movies that I like were basically the vision of ONE MAN, and with THRONES it was painful to see the nitpicking by committee directed by so-and-so with fourteen other people fucking with you. Even towards the end, when HBO knew they were sitting on a nest of dragon eggs - the DeeDees had to BEG for a zombie polar bear (it didn't seem as though it mattered which season, or what the story right then was covering). To get a great story, you just wait for James Cameron, Scorcese, Lucas, Spielberg to just hand you the finished thing, sign here, get rich (er). THAT WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER HAPPEN on HBO. GREAT cartoon!

Its hard to say rushed when they had over a year break between season 7 ending and season 8 production, they just didn't care once they got paid it was just giving HBO something and moving on its not like the final season's success would effect their employment like the previous seasons

If they have rushed all seasons this way it would have ended years ago =saving lots of money 😂
