Forging a 3/8" Folded Cross

In the last video we covered the tooling I use to cut the blanks for a 3/8" folded cross. In this video I walk thru how I forge the blanks into a cross. I also cover 3 different textures for the crosses using different hammers to achieve the textures. Hope you find this useful.

John, thanks for such a professional and informative video, even the reference chart alone is a massive help. I thought a little drift would be used to create the nice cross shape in the center at the end...but looks like it was created naturally during the process. Keep those videos coming, thanks again.

Good to hear you like the videos! Yes the center is created by the overlap of the two cuts. Thanks for your feedback.

Again, good stuff john. I even made one from 1"X1" . Slow cutting on the long and short cuts. Nice watching a video from local talent such as yourself.

I like to make crosses using a rail road spike. It's the same technique as yours except the head of the spike is flattened so it can stand upright. The lengthwise cut from the head location is problematic so a small crosswise cut is made halfway thru then the head is heated and bent out of the way. After the lengthwise cut the head is heated and moved back into place. The rest goes just like yours. Thanks for all the videos you post.
