Lyrics:
I thought I knew you well
But all this time I could never tell
I let you get away
Haunts me every night and every day
You were the only one
The only friend that I counted on
How could I watch you walk away
I'd give anything to have you here today
But now I stand alone with my pride
And dream that you're still by my side
But that was yesterday
I had the world in my hands
But it's not the end of my world
Just a slight change of plans
That was yesterday
But today life goes on
No more hiding in yesterday
Because yesterday's gone
Love, my love I gave it all
Thought I saw the light
When I heard you call
Life that we both could share
Has deserted me
Left me in despair
But now I stand alone with my pride
Fighting back the tears I never let myself cry
But that was yesterday
Love was torn from my hands
But it's not the end of my world
Just a little hard to understand
That was yesterday
But today life goes on
You won't find me in yesterday's world
Now yesterday's gone
Goodbye yesterday
Now it's over and done
Still I hope somewhere deep in your heart
Yesterday will live on

You brought up "texture" and I wholeheartedly agree. I was listening carefully to the difference between Lou and Kelly, and even though Lou's overall styling and inflections have been perfectly imitated, there is a unique textural quality to his voice that simply cannot be. It is this subtlety that makes a marked difference between a very good singer (Kelly) and a truly great one who cannot be equalled - Lou Gramm.

@UserNo84 So what are you trying to say? Regardless of what you think or theorize, Lou Grammy was always a top tier singer. I had the privilege of seeing Foreigner on several occasions, twice in L.A. in the mid to late 80s, then once in '93 in Seattle. Every time Lou sounded impeccable; very clear with perfect tone and pitch. The band as a whole were always great to see and definitely, always a crowd pleaser, big time! So if your trying to bring some negativity to belittle either Lou Grammy or Foreigner with your comment, then I don't get it, cause why else bring up some detail like that, it's a music video! It doesn't take away from how truly talented of a band Foreigner was, especially with Lou Grammy on lead vocals. And I would have to say you are Wrong, if that's your intent in a characterization of this Great band.
