    You're assumption about Fleet vehicles is completely wrong. As someone who works for a company that has a Fleet of vehicles, I can tell you that the vehicles are used and abused heavily. These vehicles are not necessarily taken care of but it depends on the company. Aside from tires and oil changes, most companies with Fleet vehicles that have large warranties on each vehicle don't bother servicing them. And remember one thing people don't treat company vehicles like their own vehicle.

    @@donc6781 The Hyundai is surprisingly well-made! Getting up to Toyota levels of quality! Any newer Santa Cruz, Santa Fe or Tucson is a GOOD DEAL for a modern vehicle! For trucks, the best-of-the-best in terms of luxury interiors and overall technology excellence is the 2024/2025 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate! That is the BEST luxury light-duty truck out there and for true HD trucks, I now say the Ford F450 Superduty Dually is the BEST ONE for all the Hot Shotter long haulers/heavy towers out there! For the BEST mid-size truly off-road worthy truck, I am now saying the Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison Edition which is $10,000 USD cheaper than its GMC Canyon AT4x cousin, is TIED with the newest Ford Ranger Raptor for off-road excellence! At a mere $38,000 for those who want a NEW truck yet don't need a massive full-size 150/1500 series, I would say the mid-size Chevy Colorado Trail Boss with Lux Options (i.e. Cruise Control Added!) is your best bet! It's the same size and carries/tows more than my Dad's 1980's/1990's-era full-size F150 truck! For those who need an urban/suburban delivery/work truck and small weekend warrior vehicle, the higher-end edition $32,000 Ford Maverick FX4 edition unibody truck is your best bet once you add some 3rd party skid plates underneath and a front-mounted or back-mount WARN winch! It has all the interior comfort bells and whistles and is SURPRISINGLY CAPABLE off-road when you put on Goodyear Territories or KO2's/KO3's tires on it! For the mega-off-roader super-explorers, just buy Tommy's Jeep Willy and put 37 inch tires on it with a lift and carry TWO external Jerry Cans of Gas and a roof-top tent so you will have EVERYTHING you need for off-roading/fishing/hunting in the far and deep narrow back-country trails! Fleet users have largely abandoned diesel engines in HD pickups because of the rampant diesel emission system issues. Also, on used fleet pickups, look at engine idle hours. Many of them may have thousands of idle hours.

  • @that.schamp

    @that.schamp

    I had never thought about the idle time until I picked up an F-150 Powerstroke fresh out of fleet usage. Probably an oil and gas service / inspection vehicles from what I can tell. Lots of dirt & gravel roads, crew cab barely used, full maintenance records, etc. 44kk on the odo - but 2500 hours on the clock, well over half at idle. I can see why they might ditch the diesel for emissions trouble, but I've also seen fleet data suggesting the 20 & 21 baby Powerstrokes are the most reliable F-150 engine for those model years. We'll see how that pans out long term. I'm not too worried. Us country folk know how to fix diesel emission problems.

    I would say the best used vehicle to buy would be from a federal agency. They have fleet maintenance schedules that are adhered to which is connected to their budget (they have to make it last until the fleet budget allows them to buy a new truck-so the budget is considered twice). Buying a fleet vehicle from a private company-I'd stay far away from.

    The buyers (wholesale customers) pre-order these multiple fleet trucks, so the manufacturer is expecting custom bed, frame, leaf spring load, different cab design, and powertrain based on what the buyer wants. Some of them are "Incomplete" vin is due to customers making changes at the last second before finalizing or they bring it back for another option. But that is to my knowledge for semi trucks specifically. I'm pretty sure it is similar to these "HD" light duty trucks.

    Interesting video. I went last summer all over Kentucky shopping for a heavy duty truck, inside 5 years old, inside 150k miles, with four wheel drive. I also wanted something that was in good condition and not beaten to death. What I found was that Ram HD trucks are the most expensive. A Cummins with 180k miles was selling for $50k+. GM Duramax trucks that met my criteria were garbage (surprise surprise) with oil leaks, electrical issues, emissions issues, etc. So I ended up with a 2019 F-250 Powerstroke with 81k miles on the clock. XLT, 5th wheel prep pack, no other options. Pretty nice condition. $43k. So far I love it, but I wish I had known that Ford makes the supplemental heater optional because that's a MUST HAVE on a diesel truck for winter.

    1:21 Andre, that’s not a push bar. Yes, it can be used as one but that is not its name. A push bar doesn’t have the protection over the lights. Like on a police car. They also generally don’t come up to the top of the hood. Their primary function is to protect the bumper if you have to push something with your vehicle, hence the name, Push Bar. You can get a push bar for a truck but they look different from this. This truck has a Brush or Grill guard. These are designed and built to protect the grill of the vehicle from loose brush. They protect against smaller things that could flip up and break the headlights or the grill causing something to get in and damage the radiator. While you can push something with them, that’s a side benefit and not what they are actually designed and built for. It’s like calling the pintle hitch that you point out at 2:55 a bumper pull hitch. They both go in the receiver below the rear bumper. But they are not actually the same, are they?

Go to any construction site where you can find new to older pickups and you will find the RAM seat cushions are a lot better than anyone else’s. Then in second is GM and then dead last is Ford. I’m not knocking Ford for anything else.
