I saw a young lady under a 98 expedition in Walsenburg Colorado. It was about 100 degrees out. She had fuel tank laying on ground. 2 doggos in back one pregnant. Looked straight homicidally 😡 😤 hangry. Asked her if fuel pump went out. Yep. Already bought new pump. Not assembly. Just pump. But needed that quick release tool to get lines off. Didn’t look at it. Was on my motorcycle melting. Went into town & bought her that same tool to get her going back down the road to Oklahoma. Her hubby (a auto mechanic) came & got kids but left her there with dogs in deadly heat.

Make sure you have a line open somewhere else whenever you do that because the liquid inside the line needs a place to go when it heats up. Taking the cap off might be enough but I’m not sure.

You know, the shop I work for didn't have a torch until I brought my own. Didn't understand how they got by for so long without one. I use it all the time. Bolts, ball joints, brakes and more.

Absolutely not trying to be a keyboard warrior or disagree with this video. Please be advised that transmission fluid is extremely flammable. And if brake cleaner or other penetrating fluids are used prior to resorting to heat, those are extremely flammable too. Hence the disclaimer of do at your own risk!

So generally speaking instead of a heat torch, can u get away w/ using a heat gun for stubborn bolts or removing fittings like this by just holding it a little longer? I’d assume using a torch when there is an active oil leak would almost definitely start a fire, or that only if it’s an active leak that has the engine damn near drenched?

NO!!!? Apart from the fact your diff/gearbox oil will run out, the CV's are Major locating points for the front end, without you are relying on just the tie rods to keep the wheels straight, and the hubs are holding your wheel on to the suspension. I'd suggest you don't work on cars until you get alot more knowledge, you'll kill yourself and others
