When taking off rusty lines, it helps to tighten them a little first and then loosen.

When trying to install new cooler line cut it in half to make it easier to install - then using double flair tool install union reconnecting the two parts of cooler line - much easier than trying to install the whole line in one piece

I agree that fitting these lines in place is difficult at times. But I have just have trouble with cutting a new formed line apart so I guess I'll continue doing it the hard way.

On my 2000 with the same transmission and also with cooler there are three lines. I replaced two of them, a long one from the transmission to the upper radiator, a shorter kind of straight one from the transmission to the passenger side of the cooler. The other one that I left in goes from the driver's side of the cooler to the lower radiator. It is shorter but very bendy. I did show the Ford part numbers for the two I replaced in the video. I hope this helps.

Great video and thank you for sharing in such detail. I have a slight crack in my hose beside that clip. Do you think i can just replace that small section of about a few inches with a rubber hose? If so would you or anyone know what size hose I'd need to fit over exisiting metal hose? Again thank you 👍

It might be worth a try although I do wonder if it might be as frustrating as changing the line. I'm thinking 3/8" ID hose but that's just a guess.

What transmission did you do this on? Mine looks almost identical to what you have done except a few differences. Both my tubes are single piece with all crimps. Your has a slip on fitting at the oil cooler and the lines look like slight differences in bends. It was excellent you show picture of the replacement part numbers. But, i'm having a heck of a time being certain of the part numbers.

The transmission is a 4R70W (code u found on the door jamb sticker). I ordered from the local Ford Dealership and it was still difficult to match these lines. I swallowed hard and ordered them, knowing that if they didn't fit I could take them back. The replacements are not identical to the originals in every bend but still they fit well. Good luck and I hope this helps.

I don't know but I had quite a time ordering the correct lines from my local Ford dealer. There are several configurations based on transmission type and presence of an oil cooler. If your year and model are different that could be a factor too.
