I am so happy I have found your channel. Now I know I can keep my truck for many years to come. Bless you for all the time you have spend to film these tutorials.
Thank you very much kindly. Iam from SA and the dealership wants to charge me R15000.00 to change the turbo. After watching yr clip did it myself 😊. Thank you again.

@@craigbraam5569 Yes the plastic gear was worn out. So the actuator lever was stuck.
Great video again. Just a small tip with bolts/screws in hot situations, when putting screws back coat the threads with anti-seize aluminium or copper paste, especially the bolts on the turbo.
Thanks for the effort of filming and doing that work.
Thanks so much for this video. Has helped me so much with a p2999 code on my ranger, that's been bugging me for months with limp mode, sensor A stuck high. Just changed the actuator, been a pain especially the L bracket. Anyway now seems sorted and so grateful for your great work and advise. Best wishes from West Yorkshire, UK.

Hey, sorry. I don't know your name, but I want to thank you for this video, and the turbo change one. It solved a problem with my bt50 that was intermittent and driving me (more) mad. So it was the actuator, but I ended up replacing the turbo since I had 250k on it anyway. Nice clear instructions that helped me enormously. Thanks.
Really great Ranger Tech vids ..thanks for posting
Thank u very much i took it back to my dealer the told me it will cost $5000 dollars u wat i look at your video and i did it myself 👍
Thank you Sir My son is looking buying 2017 BT 50 He said was low on power Ha love the scriptures Praise God

Thanks Man,my car was giving me a lot of stress because of that problem.
Awesome work mate. Very helpful with alot of your clips . Be awesome if you could run us all through how to code injectors though forscan .
Your videos are such a huge help mate. I changed my injectors (2013 Mazda Bravo) with your help and I'll keep an eye out for this issue. I'm not very teach-savvy though so I will have to learn a bit about the diagnosis program and cable you use. Thanks again. Luke

Very informative video cheers for sharing mate till the next time😊
I agree that Torx screws can be problematic, two suggestions, I prefer to use a complete 3/8 " socket with integrated Torx than a Torx end, Using a short (preferably brass) punch and hammer to give a couple of sharp whacks will give an initial dislodge or bead break to the screw or any bolt for that matter before applying Torx (or socket) to a firm screw. Often just makes the difference between a clean removal or a chewed out Screw. I prefer a good quality Allen head bolt to a Torx personally. For reassembly chase bolt threads on a wire wheel and apply Lannox Lannolin spray or a light smear of anti size grease spray to ease assembly unless thredlocker is required. Makes a later removal easier!
Amazing video brother! Thank you for sharing it

Thankyou for the video. Have you got any vidoes on turbo removal ??? I think my waste gate is not closing all the way when cold mainly. Getting a turbo noise. I think it may be carbon build up preventing it from full closing as I have no warning lights or lack of power.
Your a friggin legend
Just for sharing the word of God I'm giving you a like
Got the same issue with my Transit Custom, same engine but in FWD format, hopefully a new actuator will cure my problem. The actuator is in a difficult location on the Ranger compared to the Transit!
My 22 just blew the turbo and it had a high pitched bearing noise I wonder because they said it needed a good bit of new stuff including the turbo.
Hi I have a query. First of all, Thank you for this amazing and informative video! Could you tell me from where I could get the Ford ranger diesel actuator? Thank you!

Mate great vid, iv got an issue where my px2 Ranger pre dpf has an annoying ticking sound only under load 1500 to 2000rpm then wen I lift off the gas pedal I get a faster ticking noise momentarily for a few seconds iv replaced injectors had this motor stripped and found nothing even drove it without the belt on I don’t think it’s the exhaust as I found nothing leaking on assembly unless it’s in exhaust pipe At this point I’m assuming it may be a turbo charger issue but that’s near new n I found no noises spinning the shaft by hand I’m not sure about the variable geometry linkage etc No codes at all just this annoying ticking sound under load
goodjob buddy , master level - you did it with one hand only :) used the second one to hold the camera. ... iam gonna give it a go, however the actuators gone up to $240. so it isa toss up between just actuator for $240 or gwtting the whole turbo foe $850..... hmm dilema

excellent vidie friend
I’m having the same issues with my truck it’s a 3.2L ford ranger xlt I did a oil change and it made a really squeaky sound like a high pitch turbo sound
Do you have to calibrate the actuator after replacing?
Was there a sound actuator failing aswell or did it just throw a code?
Have u got a link to the Actuator replacement? Mine has done the same thing. Cheers
Great vid. How's it going? I am about to do the same job but am concerned about the tuning of the actuator based on a warning in my Haynes manual of "reduction in performance, or could result in engine damage" Has there been any warnings or boost/performance issues since you did this video?

I got p0035 and replaced the turbo solenoid or bypass valve but the thing is it still have same issue and im afraid it could be the turbo charge

Fair play for fixing it your self, But boy you caused your self some greif, take turbo off and it woulf been easy as , the drive you need is a 1/4 af to fit the torx drive , its an old school size, just how it is, with the turbo off you would of got in the torx head properly and not rounded them out... done heaps my self...
Hey mate, great video! Our 2.2L BT50 has the same issue, Mazda diagnosed the actuator on the turbo is faulty and said we need a whole new turbo because you cannot just replace the actuator which after a bit of research seems to be false. They tried ripping us 6k for an new aftermarket turbo + install, but being in the trade we're not dumb ahaha. Do you have the link to the actuator you used? I found one aussie company but it's $330 just wanted to check to see if that sounds about right. Appreciate the help!

hey Roger , it's an extra 3 bolts to remove turbo, where the turbo bolts to exhaust manifold, 1 bolt for the oil feed & 2 bolts for the turbo oil return, and your turbo will come off, no coolant lines as it's oil cooled
I think you missed a bolt on the actuator there is another counter sunk torx bolt behind that L bracket behind the that is pretty much impossible to get off in the car because it’s in the back turbo housing l, so I just took off the front turbo housing because it’s the only way to get to that bolt and it’s much easier to get the actuator back on. That’s on a px1 ranger btw not sure about px2 and 3 great video but

My bro.Got error P2099 when going slowly in second gear in 2000rpm. Lost power, got limpmode and showed error P2599 stuck high... the power was strange after a shop replaced my turbo. 1 hour after that, the P2599 error came ( new turbo) After tedious back and forth with local garages (who had no idea), a friend told me to check for leaks. Twas a leak. Air bubble galore. My turbo was leaking air between the manifold and the turbo connection. Had the shop fix it and the problem went away. Now the problem came back, and yes, bubbles again...so I'll try to have a look and see if I can fix myself.
