Point-of-view driving video of the the Raptor variant of the 2nd-generation T6-based Ford Ranger (P703). This was filmed during the 2024 Auto Focus Summer Test Drive Festival (event fr May 9-12) and this was on the 11th. Impressions/observations during the test drive:
The Ford Ranger Raptor does look off-road capable because that is the main feature of this truck. Its wide fenders, big tires, large front grille w/ large "FORD" letterings on it, fender vents, black details, side steps (rock sliders) and the LED headlights give the truck more presence and off-road capable look. Moving over into the inside, one would see that good quality materials were used and sporty touches were used. The sporty seats, orange trims, center line on the steering wheel, "FORD PERFORMANCE" lettering on the door sills, carbon-like surfaces, suede, and the good-quality paddle shifters give the interior a sporty look. This truck is also good in regards to its technological features such as a 360-degree camera, trail control (like cruise control for off-roading), 7 selectable drive modes, good infotainment screen, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay to name few.
The twin turbo diesel engine in this one is definitely not lacking in performance, because it is more than enough to move this truck around. It is definitely capable enough to move this truck through any obstacle on any off-road trail such as steep inclines and slippery surfaces, as well as to make it jump. Both of its accelerator and brake pedals respond well enough to the driver's inputs. The FOX shocks provide for a comfortable ride even when driving the truck on uneven road surfaces. The suspension is quite comfortable, but still provides some road feel which is nice since this means that the truck does not feel disconnected from the road. This also makes the truck very capable for off-road trails, because it provides good articulation on uneven surfaces on the trails. There is some body roll when going around turns and corners, which is normal for a pickup truck like this. In addition to that, the steering is light for a pickup truck, but still has some good weight and feel to it which adds some sporty feel to it. Its 10-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly in automatic mode and responds well enough in manual mode. The paddle shifters feel nice and high quality, which makes it nice to use.
