Impressions/observations during the test drive:
The exterior design of the Raize leans more on the rugged outdoorsy vibe rather than sportiness like some of its competition such as the Geely Coolray and Changan CS35. The plastic cladding around the vehicle gives one a sense that this can be brought to some light off-roading situations, which makes sense considering that this car is available with a 4X4 model in Japan. Moving over into the interior, the same theme is also evident with its materials and general layout. One might also be a little bit reminded of the RAV4 in terms of this. It is to be noted though, that there are no A/C vents for the 2nd row. The wired Apple CarPlay/Android Auto is a useful feature of the car's infotainment screen which gives the interior modernity. When using it, one would find it responsive and easy to use. Another nice feature it has is the customizable RPM-gauge, with 4 different options of design. The drive mode button placement is another good thing this car does because it is on the steering wheel, which means the driver would not need to remove a hand from the wheel to turn on and off power mode.
The power and torque of the car's engine is just adequate for highway driving. One needs to put more pressure on the accelerator pedal to accelerate because it has 86HP only. In quicker paced driving conditions such as highway driving and accelerations on open roads, the relative lowness of the power and torque figures is definitely more evident. This does not mean that the car is underpowered though as this is just adequate for what it is. It does require more input to overtake slow traffic though. Even though the car was loaded with 3 people and some luggage, the engine can still carry the car good enough at higher speeds. In manual mode, the CVT of this car does a well enough job of simulating gears but DCTs (CS35 and Coolray) and conventional automatic transmissions (MG ZS Trophy and Chevrolet Tracker) in its competition are still subjectively preferable. The manual mode in this car is almost, if not as good as Honda's CVT though. In slower city driving, the steering is light but it gains some weight at higher speeds for stability. Both the accelerator and brake pedals respond well enough and safely to the driver's inputs. It must be noted though, that the road imperfections are more felt in the cabin, compared to some of its competition like the Geely Coolray and Changan CS35. On smooth road surfaces, it is good though. Overall, the chassis still feels well-put together. During highway speeds, one would hear road and tire noise but not to the point that it is unbearable already. The engine is quite audible too, which sounds quite nice.

Love the video, though I wish it was a continuous video without any cuts. It ruins the immersion a bit to me.

Thank you! Apologies for that as there are times when the camera makes the video dizzying when my head moves (when checking mirrors, blindspots, etc).
