MK4 Ford Mondeo 2011
In this video we have a Ford Mondeo with an airbag abs and traction control light in this case we only have one problem with the abs system this car has the same model (RCM Restraint Control Module) and this is why we have these error code this is why it's important to know your system when you are working on Modern vehicles

Well done, good fault finding👍😎
Visual inspection for the win! And a bit of proper soldering does wonders! Good video Leon.

I had a similar issue with a 2011 VW, but the issue was the reluctor ring was damaged. The ring is a magnetic strip pressed onto the bearing, so the whole bearing needed to be replaced. When replacing the bearing fixed all three lights I was pretty astonished that it had anything to do with the airbag.
I was so looking forward to seeing you load test a broken wire. LOL It was cold in Ireland that day eh. Nicely done mate.

Thanks Mr. Leggit. That's pointed me in the right track for my intermittent Airbag, ESP and ABS lights on my 07 Renault Espace. The Airbag turns off and on as it did with the mondeo. I have a known faulty tyre pressure sensor which gives incorrect readings, fitted on the wrong wheel and sometimes flags a puncture. Have you also seen tyre pressure sensors on the same system?
nice diagnosis /fix

Is the wiring you fixed also to do with airbag then? Just a weird one for me to get my head round my Mondeo just came up with all three same lights
Nice one ...had one with the same dodgy repair on the vss ... had to get a connector off a scrapped car as they put spade connectors on 😱

You have saved me a great deal you star
Good investigation with the wiring there Leon no doubt some people would go straight into changing the sensor and be stumped when it wouldn’t fix the problem lol

I couldn’t make till the end of the video as my simple mind scrambles itself when it comes to electronics, but 👍 nevertheless. Please make a mk4 rear wheel bearings vid if you have a chance. Greetings Leon. ☀️

Krzysztof Kacprzak no problem mate I will do as soon as one comes in
Hi Leon, thanks for the video mate. I was just thinking about those hall effect sensors. For a 2-wire sensor it would have to be current output instead of voltage output right? I did some googling and most of the sensors I've seen explained are 3-wire with power, ground and voltage output. So I'm a bit confused how. How did you hook up your scope? That would help me in understanding these sensors, thanks!

spankmeister hi mate it's a two wire sensor 12 volt supply and ground the signal is used by ecm and abs the signal is calculated vehicle speed and adjust idle speed it is a magneto-resistive type hall effect sensor there is no separate signal wire the signal is superimposed into the ground cable
@DylanRabier

Look for MRE sensors spankmeister.
Hi Leon a another one man band here in south wales was wondering what program do you use for your wiring diagrams need to get some thing used to have auto data but i dont want to pay silly hundreds of pounds to have it expire at the end of 12 months cheers mate love the videos keep them coming brian

briun11 hi mate unfortunately I don't know of any way you can get them without paying stupid money it cost me thousands of pounds a year to get my wiring diagrams I have all the usual things plus I also subscribe to the main dealers sites the only way I know to get accurate information
I wonder what the history was on that previous 'repair'. A collision?

Dear, I have my airbag light on since 6 months, but i did not care to much until it did not pass car's annual check. i remember that i make another connection to radio to add for speakers. this can have any connection to airbag system too? thx
@bodgitandleggitgarage
4 жыл бұрын
Hi mate no I don't think that's going to be the issue you're going to have a separate abs issue fault get it plugged into a scan tool and find out what error code you have have if you are worried about the connections you mate just disconnect everything you have done and see what happens
Careful on some systems I had an iveco daily the other day that nearly caught me out. If it detects an open circuit it will turn off the 12v feed to the sensor so testing like you did at first won’t work. If you use a scope on it though you can see the ecu pulse 12v a couple of times when you cycle the ign it detects a fault and off it goes. Could lead to tracing a non existent broken wire 😂

I'm just curious, would it be possible for some one to permanently remove a faulty airbag light even if the airbag stays faulty? Dont get the wrong idea, I still got all my airbags working... I hope. Im just curious.

bug me people that can not solder. is that a bipolar or Omnipolar hall effect sensor ?
@bodgitandleggitgarage
6 жыл бұрын
Simon Rawle hi mate this is a omnipolar the bipolar sensor needs both sides of the magnets to turn on and off
@sdgelectronics
6 жыл бұрын
A lot of people are not taught correctly. The main thing is the joint should be mechanically sound even before the wires are soldered.
@bodgitandleggitgarage
6 жыл бұрын
Simon Rawle it contains a magneto-rsistive

i was trying to figger out the logic in the module. as to the 158 mph . it must be programmed as a default if it see no signal . it will have been a lot cooler if it was a bipolar and was counting the on off pulse . and just happened to of snapped the wire on a no pulse and the module was seeing that as its speed
@bodgitandleggitgarage
6 жыл бұрын
Simon Rawle yes mate it is a default setting the module measures resistance which then converts it to miles per hour so high resistance due to an open circuit which results in the speed output
shud of traded it in for a vauxhall
