Do you mean the oil filter housing ? There is an O-ring with a shoulder to tighten down to . Just tighten it till it stops and the ring seals . I never drain via the sump plug , I use an oil evacuator to suck the oil out via the dipstick . I know my car contains 6 litres and that’s what I pull out so I know there’s not much left behind . No need to get on your back and you can be doing the Filters whilst it’s being sucked up
