    Hi, I want to thank you for your video! Today, it was the first time for me when I replaced the filter and I did it. I followed all your steps! I have got Ford Kuga 2014, 150 HP, engine T7MA, the engine is the same as the car from your video. Without your video, I wouldn't succeded it. Thank you so much!!! God bless you!!!

    Very good explanitve on how to remove the fuel lines. Would have been better to remove the 3 bolts with 8 mm socket that hold the plastic filter pot in place. Reason for this is that there is a sump section in the bottom that needs cleaning. There is also a black plastic drain bolt on the plastic pot which you unscrew with a TX30 bit. This will allow you to fill the sump section with solvent and drain out the contamination that will be in the bottom for sure. The last thing you want is inlet/outlet fuel mixing as you swap out the filter. Doing as I described will will remove this risk. By the way,,, main dealers don't even go to this trouble. Never trust a main dealer on this one.

    Do you have to top up the filter with fuel, or would motoring inject sufficient fuel to start it up eventually? Thanks

  • @Hogrid-cy
    @Hogrid-cy2 жыл бұрын

    Just to check, you definitely don’t need to prime the fuel through? I want to check because I’ve seen some comments online regarding leaving the ignition on for 30 seconds before first start and it will also refill the bowl.

    Great video but a lot of faff to changing a regular service item. I have also been told the fuel pipe clips can become brittle with age & break very easy. Ford are known to charge for a new fuel pipe when they, themselves, break the thing to start with....

    Stefan Arnold hi I’m very soon due to change the oil filter on my Edge (same engine as this Kuga) This one in particular has a screw on filter at the bottom front in the centre and you get to it from underneath the vehicle. Some of the slightly older Kugas have a element filter which is located at the front again but you do from the top left and remove the filler pipe. Hope that makes sense and helps

    Paul Baldry No. I did on an Edge and a Kuga and had no problems at all. I emptied the fuel filter encasement and refilled with fresh diesel. Started on the button but I did keep the revs up for a couple of mins straight away to make sure there was no air in the system. Hope that helps

    Always wear gloves when working with fuel, esp diesel due to the bacteria.

    Hi. Nice tidy job there. I have the same specs of Ford Kuga 2.0TDCI 2016 Powershift. I closely observed your method and saw that you didn't need to prime after replacing the filter. Is it not required here?

    Hi, Done a few of these and not needed to prime. Think I might have put some diesel in the housing. Just done the powershift gearbox service on my Edge as it’s 4yrs old. Be putting a video up shortly when I’ve edited it.

    I did 5 year service recently by myself, and i could not find where to drain the fuelfilter from water as changing the fuel filter is in 6 year service. Do you know where and how to drain it from water? Anything special to keep in mind?

  • @anthonyomahony6257

    At the back of the fuel pot casing you will find a black plastic bolt. You need a torx (TX 30) bit to unscrew it. That will drain out any water and can also drain down the filter housing when changing the filter.

    I have always changed fuel filters either every couple of years or around 25k to 30k. Which ever comes first. After I changed this one and one on my Edge, I immediately noticed a difference in both. This Kuga also was suffering with loss of power on the motorway. Filter changed and been perfect since.

    Why are you telling people to disconnect the battery? I’m a mechanic 30 years I never disconnected the battery in any service.... what is the benefit of doing this? Apart from losing the radio code.

    Springer spaniel for those that are experienced like yourself it’s not so much of an issue but when I’m messing around with fuels and showing others I prefer to make sure that they is no chance of a spark so will always disconnect the battery. Can never be too careful. Stay safe

    Better remove battery head. I had a nasty experience when I was changing oil filter in Renault Grand scenic 2011. Because the engine compartment is very tight and as was trying to maneuver the metal oil filter removal tool, this tool slipped out my hand and fell in between the alternator and some part with electric charge, there was a spark which worsened as I even tried to wriggle the tool out of that space. The whole car went dead as it affected the ECM. Car couldn't start and I had to call a towing company to ferry my car to the garage. That cost me £100. The garage changed components plus labour and that cost me £280.And so in all it cost me a nail biting £380 to change just my oil filter and so it's a yes and wisely precautionary to disconnect battery heads before doing anything in the engine compartment.
