Ford Focus 2011 | Water Leak Found |

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

💧 This Ford Focus has wet carpets and water in the spare wheel well in the boot, so the customer brought the car to us to find the leaks.
There is a lot of debris which has built up over the scuttle, this can lead to the drainage holes in the trough at the back of the engine compartment getting blocked, which in turn leads to it filling with water until it leaks through the bulkhead. In this case, there don't seem to be any problems, but those dead leaves need to be cleaned out, and we would recommend everybody does this on any car especially through the autumn, or just when you check your oil and water... you do check your oil and water don't you?
One of the rear door membranes is leaking through the bottom of the door, and the rear air vents are leaking on both sides. We can also see the cracks that are beginning to appear around the seams near the boot hinges, although they aren't leaking yet.
Solution: Clear the leaves out of the scuttle. We would recommend replacing all the door membranes as they all perish at the same rate, so the others are likely to start leaking soon. We would reseal the rear air vents and those rubber grommets. We would put some sealant over the welding seams near the hinges -- you don't have to worry that the welds are coming apart, the spot-welds are still strong, it is just the sealant they put over them which has cracked. As usual, we would recommend the car be decontaminated and properly dried.

The videos shown on this channel are taken from inspection reports, filmed for the customer who has paid for a diagnostic inspection, which comes with a video report. We share them here for informational purposes because the hardest part of fixing leaky cars is finding the leak.
After the initial inspection, if the customer agrees to have the work done, we film progress reports for the customer and will sometimes include them here.

Q: How much does it cost?
A: We don't know. That's why we do a diagnostic inspection. We cannot answer the question of how much it costs to fix before we know the extent of the problem. Prices for our inspection and hourly rates can be found on our website.
Q: Why don't you show us how to fix it?
A: This isn't a DIY channel, we are sharing videos we take for the customer as part of our inspection process. Furthermore, the vast majority of the fixes are simple, and if you need to ask how to fix them, you probably should let a professional deal with it. See below:

⚡ Electricity and water is a dangerous combination. This is especially the case with electric and hybrid cars, but most modern cars have electronic control units in areas which are prone to water ingress. These are easily damaged and can be expensive to replace.
💥 Areas that need to be accessed to fix water leaks may contain airbags. These are explosive and can be quite sensitive. Tampering with them could lead to serious injury.
☣️ Cars that have been damp for a prolonged period often contain mould, mildew and dangerous bacteria. Mould spores can seriously affect the health of people with asthma, the old, very young, and people with compromised immune systems. Mould should always be taken seriously.

How do you pry the carpet out from the plastic trim around the doors? I have the same car. Is it safe to use a hairdryer on the foam padding as mine is damp after already using a wet vac on top carpet. Would a dehumidifier machine over a few nights/days dry out out completely and what size would you recommend?

I have a 2012 focus that is leaking inside the hatch compartment and when taking the rear Quarter panel interior carpet out, water comes through a small hole from the driver side Quarter panel and when spraying water from a hose on the back bumper and tail lights and rear of the car no leaks are found but when hosing on the roof drainage rail then water comes in through that small hole in side of car. the body shop I went to cannot work out how this is happening so I have to take it to a mechanic for further investigation, I know about the air vent leak issue although mine seems to be a different cause. it may even be from a body weld seam and it's coming in through the roof rail drain somehow, I'm in Australia and the focus was made in Germany, there seems to be poor manufacturing and cheap building on these cars. I have already replaced steering rack and the heater core has failed and the car only has 75,000 kilometers.
