I think some of the dv6 engines have a thermostat opening temperature of around 80c. Worth a check. Threw me when i first saw one. Think i checked the part number and found the opening temp in the specs. Autodata sometimes lists the opening temp too. Spot on by the way. Wish all mechanics took as much pride in their work and did things the logical and right way like yourself.

Put a new thermostat in and your MPG should improve

Love fords. VW / Skoda and fords are my favourite cars.

I had that same model of focus 1.6 tdci 110 bhp about 10 years back . The ford main dealership told me the dpf needed changing every 5 years at a cost of £1200.00 back then. I’d have probably kept it longer if cleaning them out was an option back then.

We gave scrap money on a part X for a younger one of those with a DPF problem there mechanic has obviously had a few bits off the egr gasket was half blocking the hole the DPF temp sensors where loose and the thread gummed up It's just coming with soot accumulation now after 30min of driving DPF pressure 4 max 80s temps all seem fine I've reset additive in DPF when trying a static regen it fails one thing I have noticed is I can hear like a waistgate chattering when just doing a 3 point turn but it's a vv turbo 🤔

How much do you charge for a dpf clean on 07 sprinter when I have had the codes sorted in a couple of weeks

Don't wish that upon the guy lol what I do when all else fails is drill it 15-20mm deep with something like a 8mm bit and smash a T50 in

thanks for the videos ... have you ever found the highest value at minimum, for example 40mbar while at 3000 rpm the value is lowest 20mbar. how do you proceed in these conditions ?

@@ORileysAutos Excuse me . it happened to me in the workshop a Renault trafic with error p2002 where the differential pressure at idle was higher than that at 3000 rpm .. example at idle it showed me 40 millibars at 3000 rpm it gave me a pressure of 20 millibars.

My mate has a diesel ford focus and from one MOT to the next hes done 200 miles when he takes it for a service they just stamp the book and dont do anything it has advisory on mot for cracked tyres ... not be long for P242F

What engine is it if its got the 1.8 diesel then there lucky as the 1.8 didnt come with a dpf but could still eventually suffer from egr issues getting blocked with gunk especially if its not being serviced

Most 1.8 you can blank the EGR without triggering a fault

Hi. I am the owner. I was paying in cash and didn't have the funds. If I had I still couldn't have had it done as it was bank holiday Monday and the shops were shut :-). I am also 100+ miles from Jimmy so will get my local garage to do it. :-)

The guy is so knowledgeable. If anyone is reading this I highly recommend you get jimmy to sort your dpf issues out before you pay a garage more money then you need to, only to go to him anyway.

Well back to square one for me. The car worked fine for around 2 weeks but then the errors have been coming back. I can do dynamic regens so I know it can regen as Jimmy did the dpf clean. I purchased a new pressure sensor which has not made a difference. If I go on a 60 mile journey it does sometimes do a regen. The trouble is that I can do that on say a Saturday, come a week later the error pops up again with the malfunction when driving just to work and back. Surely it should have a longer period before the error appears again after a regen? I had the eloys fluid topped up and reset so I know it's also not that. Might try the two hoses next from the sensor to the dpf as the outer lining looks to be worn. I have seen videos where the internal hose can split. A guy blew through it straight and it seemed fine. He the put a bit of bend on the hose and blew and nothing coming from the other end as it then showed a split. See if that does anything.

P242f seems to be the main one. That will not clear
