I replaced my sitting-in-the-driveway 2012 F150 Platinum with 236K miles. Passenger side only. I tried to order just the motor on Rockauto and got the driver's side seven times. I finally gave up and found one on Amazon. I took the three bolts out and then drove the motor out with the chisel, and it came right out. The hardest thing was putting the aluminum key back in correctly. I got lucky in not taking the running board off. I wish I had seen your video first. Overall it took an hour to remove the old one and put the new one on, but 30 minutes was messing with the key wedge and bold that holds the running board up. It was a pain. I finally pushed it up and held the running board (scissor-type arms) to hold it in place and just inched it into place. Been working great. Your video was excellent and will save some people some time. (Side note: Mine has been garaged, and had no corrosion on it)

I just found this video after attempting to take mine apart. I followed what you said and it worked. My only problem was that I hit the end enough to swell. This was prior to heating it. I had to take a saw and cut the motor off and force the shaft out the other end. Heating up the shaft definitely does the trick.

Thanks, very helpful. Heating the points you mention in your video was instrumental in getting the motor shaft unstuck. One thing I did different was to use a 3inch, double arm gear puller to remove the motor. Had to add a couple of small sockets along the way but found easier than hammering the motor shaft.

Huge thank you, this is the only video I could find for this. I have a '13 Platinum and my motors finally gave out. I used heat from MAPP torch and they came out with ease. Only needed hammer for one, the other side came out by hand after heating.

I tried getting the motor off my Expedition with the running boards on the truck. Duh. 😂. Got all the bolts out. But could not budge the motor pin. Must be corroded in place. Thanks for this.

This video helped me out. Most of the videos are of guys soaking them with pb blaster or something. I had a seized motor though and wouldn't have got it out without these tips especially the map gas torch to heat it up (which worked) and the wedge bolt direction comment. l. speaking of I used a lag bolt to hammer it out. I used the PB blaster and air until the scissor joints moved good and then put white lithium grease on it. Used a battery wire brush as I didn't have a bore brush handy. Fyi though, few challenges I had was the shaft on the motor was opposite so I put it on the truck opened the door to move the shaft in the right position made it easier to work on off the truck.

Replacing my motors too I was able to use propane torch and heated shaft mostly with little heat on pivot points. The sucky part is I lube mine pivot points all the time and still took a crap. You really can’t put grease fittings in all the pins looks like they pivot not in center bracket but outer brackets and how would you get too the one that’s inside of mounting bracket in full swing it would break off fitting Just tried putting new motor on had a hard time with timing it only worked opposite got it working correctly but stops and very jerky without motor pivots perfectly fine maybe motorists wrong but anyways other side starting to go bad I think I’ll just keep them off been a pain since day one

Wait a few minutes. Then reconnect negative on battery. Didn’t work. Tried a few times with no luck. He said if it didn’t work . Might have to take to dealership to have them reprogram the system. I know dealership will want to charge a couple hundred to do that . Since they want to charge around $1200 to replace it anyways. The few videos I came across all said this is supposed to be plug and play. So that makes me believe I have received a couple bad units.

This is a 100 dollar or less part. Bandage will work just long as the original motor lasted. Seems worth the time and small amount of money every 5 years or so to replace it. The power running boards are way better then fixed position ones. Way better position to stand on when out and cleaner look when they are not deployed
