If Ford (or any other manufacturer) wants to make a pile of cash all they need to do is produce a bare bones pickup truck. When I say bare bones I mean exactly that. Standard model is manual EVERYTHING from the windows to the transmission, single cab, rear wheel drive, 8ft bed. The only "fancy" feature included on the base model should be A/C. Headlghts, tail lights, and marker lights should be the bog-standard tech possible. Everything else should be optional extras.

All auto makers need to realize that many people can't afford 95% of the vehicles they make. They need to focus on more affordable and reliable vehicles that everyone can afford to buy. They should pay attention to how many 2022, and 2023 vehicles are still on the lots unsold. I have been looking for a decent used truck for several years, I might have thought about a new truck if they were more affordable. I have a chunk of money to put down on one but the payments will be more than my mortgage, and I already know that they will not last long before needing some type of repairs. Plus in the northeast there's a good chance of it rotting out about the same time you are making the last payment on it. I was hoping one of them would actually come through on the low cost truck, oh I mean a low cost truck available in the USA. Not just other places. The new ford, Fixing Our Recalls Daily!

Pulled a fifth wheel travel trailer two to three times a year for five years until my wife was diagnosed with cancer. Wish I could buy it new right now.

2019 added rooftop solar and purchased Kia Nero ev. Great for commuting, penciled out $ wise at five years, all savings now. Aside from the expensive battery the car is relatively simple. No maintenance aside from tires so far. Kept ICE cars for travel. Plug in hybrids also make sense for commuters.

We got a hail storm about three weeks ago in Bellville Texas, just outside of Houston. Tennis ball size hail with a tornado throwing them sideways through houses, AND downward through roofs. Covered the roads in a solid layer of ice in a minute or less. Went from a warm sunny day to a winter wonderland in about 15 minutes. Then came the ground temperature variation and the thick fog. So thick I couldn't see the end of my hood. With all the chemicals dumped into landfills, I don't think THAT property is worth much.
