Kudos Dale, for an excellent, comprehensive video -- very well done! I've been working on cars (off and on) for about 45+ years. I watched your video primarily to get the type, size, and location of the hardware -- to minimize the number of times I have to slid under the Badlands. You covered everything very thoroughly. Thank you.

@@daleshotrodshop I've posted on your thread on the Bronco Sport forum also. One thing that would add to the video (if you have them) is the torque specs. I searched quite a bit and could not find them. Even the 910S oil filter does not have installation instructions! Based on past experience I went 3/4 turn after contact, and found out after the fact that was correct. I put 25 lb-ft on the drain plug and 20+ on the skid plate bolts -- just guessing.

From what I understand, as long as it’s the correct oil type and has all the same certifications as the OEM oil, they won’t deny your claim on the basis of what brand of oil you chose.

I was a service manager for a new car dealership for over 2 decades. Your statement is true but it doesn't mean the dealership and manufacturer may make the claim and deny a warranty. If you were to spend a ton of money to make them warranty an engine yes they would have to do just that. I would rather not give the dealer or manufacturer a window to deny a repair.

Good video, this is first I've seen for the Badlands. Have you thought about installing an oil catch can? I've read they're a good investment for the EcoBoost engines.

Yes I plan on installing an oil separator soon. I am going to make a video of the install and cleaning the GDI with CRC.

Is there room for a longer oil filter? I have used the FL-400S on my 2011 Escape (OEM is the 910) for 11 years - love the additional filtration and oil capacity it provides. Badlands on the way :)

Sorry for the slow reply I waited until I had it apart again and yes there is a ton of room for a longer oil filter.

Hi Dale….this may sound like an odd question. I recently did an oil change myself (VW Beetle 2006) and was shocked to see the state of the filter. I wonder if i could send you a picture of it….looks like it hasn’t been changed in a few years (even though i paid for oil changes every 4K miles).

Just FYI, went to my Ford dealer this morning. You can’t buy the gasket, only drain plug complete. If you know where I can get it please share.

Inside diameter is 14mm and outside is 22mm. I bought 12 copper washers for 10 bucks off Amazon, but you can pick them up at any parts store or Ace Hardware.

Is it the Badlands that only has the skid plate - or do the other models like the Outer Banks have them too?

As far as I know all models with the 1.5 has a a fiberboard plate held on with screws using the T30 torx bit and 2 plastic clips.

I personally believe 5000 should be the max. Everyone has a different opinion on this subject.. I went over a bit because the dealer gave me 4 free changes but then backed out. I am glad I did my own because all the lugnuts were only torqued between 60 and 70 pounds. That video is coming up on Monday.

@@daleshotrodshop Thanks. So an earlier change for break-in isn't necessary? Just do 1st change at 5k?
