Tip when winching... get in and put it in drive and give it a little gas to help the winch. 1 your tires spinning will help cut through the mud and 2 it will boost your rpms and your alternator will put out more amps.

Yes always put the vehicle in drive and help the winch out. Just don’t spin your tires too fast or the truck will want to continuously dig down. Just enough for a slow wheel spin....

One thing I noticed you do a lot, is braking as you’re going into holes. Stop doing that. You want to keep your momentum. That will help you get through mud a lot better. I’m not saying you have to gun it. Just stop pumping your brakes.

UnCrumbled Cooke Depends what area you’re wheeling in. Where I’m at some holes are deep enough to swallow a full-size on 42s. You go into it too fast and youll be in for a surprise and a trashed truck.

Yeah don’t gun it into a hole either, just don’t stop in the middle of it lol. Try to always have a buddy with you for a recovery vehicle if needed.

Fun old bronco. At least you had a winch. Wheeling alone can be a bit nerve racking at times even with a winch.

Yeah it definitely can. If you can't afford a winch, get a come along hand winch. Saved me many times prior to getting a winch

Ive got a 88 bronco. Its on 1990 f350 axles. Coils up front with cage off rd radius arms ( bloody garage knuckle garage is the new name). 6 inch lift deaver long travel leafs out back. Rear diff is welded and front open. For power 408windsor with ported heads . Isky cam. Wien steath intake and 650 holley double pumper. Headman headers and 3 inch magnaflow exhaust. Single... trans is a 4spd np435 with np208 t case. Custom double barrel driveshafts i built. And choice of tire 37x13.50x18 nitto mudgrapplers for daily use and 18x39.5x15 superswamper boggers on the rear n 15x39.5x15 tsl up front for heavy duty off road trail running. I want to give you a winching tip. Get in the truck.. 1st gear 4 low... let the clutch out .low rpm spin the tires slowly... now winch ahead. ... the way you were winching your more likely to burn out the winch. The less the winch has to work... the longer it ll last. Also if the winch is working hard enough to stall out.... dont keep winching. Get out the pullies n snatch block it to gain more pulling power. Ive been off roading since 1990. Ive wrecked a few winches along the way.... also... low batteries cook winches too. Have a look at how i off road daily in my logging truck up here in ontario Canada. Cool truck by the way. My 15 year old daughter is starting her 78 bronco restoration this summer.

If you get a wildlife management stamp, Richloam wildlife management area open year round, now you would definitely have given your winch a workout there. Couple years ago three lakes wma was so flooded , I had water almost to the top of the hood of my bronco.
