I put this kit on about 8 months ago. Love it. Super easy install and great filtration. But, don't expect the oil to remain clean like a gasser. It will be "cleaner" but still black. And it will still stain your driveway lol.

I run the fS2000 on my 7.3, to keep soot at bay. It works, but filter changes are expensive. I still do my oil every 5k anyway. For an heui fuel system, I feel it's a great addition. For the other engines, it's definitely added insurance against wear and contamination. Another good video A-Rod!

These by-pass are getting more recommended for the newer vehicles today, with engines running EGRs, engines increasing efficiency which make crank to bearing tolerance even tighter (like the 6.7) etc., and the manufacturer recommended lower oil viscosity..... makes these by-pass filter more valuable to add to your truck, to increase the engine life. Got one installed in a 6.0 and late 5.9 CR, and notice a big difference in oil colour when the oil interval is due from non-bypass times to by-pass filter install (way less black and sooty)

Those by-pass filters work pretty good on ZTR lawn mowers & can't imagine it hurting anything (except wallet) to have it on 6.7. 5k mile interval is still best defense imho & $$ well spent. As added measure I swap out my primary oil filter @2.5k intervals but filter housing is up top on my engine & filters cost $10 so a little easier to pull that off & less of a sting to wallet.

For those of us that really care about our trucks, you're crazy if you don't run a bypass filter, ESPECIALLY if you still have emissions ON. I'm an Amsoil fanboy, but any of the bypass filter brands are good and will significantly reduce wear in your motor.....not to mention extending your change intervals (if you're so inclined).

I put a bypass on my '03 6.0. For that engine, it's a must, and super easy because it's all under the hood and short lines. Many, MANY options there for that engine. I put one on my '16, a Racor unit that uses a spun cone of cotton twine. That was a heavy duty, professional unit, but I wasn't as crazy about it because the return line was long, snaking from passenger side mount by the step bar, through the wheel well, across the top of the radiator area over to the oil fill cap. I've not decided on my '21 yet. I have parts, and if I do will go with the big mamba, The FL797A. That tiny AmSoil filter in the video trembles at the sight of the 797.... The '21 will be easy. A tee off the oil pressure sender (those sandwich adapters like AmSoil ALWAYS eventually give trouble), and Ill drop the lower oil pan and weld in a bung for the return so the lines are short. Anyone doing this, your benefit is cleaner oil. You can only extend changes so far until you run out of TBN to neutralize the acids, You can deal with contaminates two ways, filter or change oil. Lots of benefits to changing on schedule though....

I’ve used these before and there are a couple of drawbacks the first and biggest is it robs a portion of your oil pressure and while that’s no concern above 1200 revs, it’s when idling that I get concerned. We put one on one LBZ Duramax and the other without. The one with the Amsoil bypass every now and again gives a warning of low oil pressure but only at operating temp and idling. They both have 200k miles and both are worked just the same. We feel that while it does work and extends oil life it hasn’t shown engine life extension. Also the majority of engine wear is starting it first thing in the day. The second being if you are a 25k+ (and it’s freeway) miles per year driver I recommend it. But if it’s under that I’ve found no engine life benefit to it, only reduced oil changes. Oil samples on both trucks are always beautiful we can just go much longer on the oil life of the truck with the Amsoil bypass filter.

I am a certified Amsoil Dealer of 40 years and here are some of my thoughts. First of all if I was a extended 6.7 oil service guy or in farm or fleet it’s a no brainer. However let’s go to microns. It cannot remove the nasty black soot that our 6.7s produce and eat they are like under 1 micron or less. They are smaller that any oil filter can eliminate. And that black soot micron filled oil will pass through all filters. It likes to polish your cylinder liners. Not good! So if your using regular oil changes your really not needing it. A case can be made that the extra quart allows more engine oil cooling and now you have 14 quarts handling the torque vs 13. Now use the Amsoil main engine filter you will feel and see the quality and I use it with our 10W-30 signature oil diesel. Towing a 30 ft Airsteam out West in heat and mountains never had any higher oil temps vs the 5W-40 Have never in three oil samples seen any negative results and my oil is still well able to go twice the distance. When I had gassers I successfully went extensive oil changes no problem until Ford developed the 3.5 EcoBoost. Which was one of the most toxic to engine oil engines every tested by Amsoil. Twin turbo heat and direct injection. The 6.7 EGR system causing our engines to eat what they eliminate is horrible but unless you go illegal and it is what it is. Any way as a dealer I could install any one of those by pass systems . I however would have used the dual filter system if I went that route. Not a fan of returning oil into the fill cap. Just my two cents.

  • @armedprophet3321
    @armedprophet33213 жыл бұрын

If you are expecting for your oil to be any visibly cleaner you will be disappointed. All that soot that amsoil states the bypass filter removes from the oil is still there. I know some guys that put them on their powerstroke and they were very upset at the performance. Also it will be interesting to see how you mount that filter because all the installs I have seen on the Super Dutys have a line running in between the frame and radius arm..(can you say giant scissors at full compression). But then again I haven’t seem a professional mount one either. I do love the idea of a more complete filtering process, but it doesn’t take anything away from frequent oil changes and maintenance. This will be interesting to say the least to get your two cents. Rock on Arod, the master of all things powerstroke !!

2 micron bypass filters like this one will remove most of the soot, but there is still enough soot smaller than 2 microns that the oil will turn black. But that small soot isn't doing any damage, except for the acid impact.

Oil change frequency is really determined by the amount of fuel burned thru engine (more fuel burned = shorter oil life). But not all oils start out or perform equally against this fuel burn curve. Premium, full-synthetic oils start out with higher Total Base Number (TBN), which is measurement of oil's ability to neutralize acid created by burning fuel. These premium oils also hold their TBN levels longer, which allows for extended oil change intervals. They also have more robust detergent additive package which keeps engine clean. When used to their potential, these premium oils cost less per mile than cheaper oils.

I have many customers with trucks running AMSOIL Signature Series Max-Duty diesel oil, the AMSOIL full-flow oil filter, the AMSOIL bypass filter, and monitor everything with oil analysis, are easily reaching 20-25,000 mile oil changes. These are trucks still equipped with the factory DPF.

OEM is advertised at around 19-20 microns, but hard to find how efficient it is at that size. If you see nominal, that means about 50% efficient - not very impressive.

Oem ford filter is approximately 20 microns, you could not use a 2 micron filter as a primary oil filter, would have flow issues and trash the engine

I've had the Amsoil bypass systems on all my trucks. from my 2000 150, 05,150 and now my 14 6.7. I have the duel remote system and rock deflector kit, not from Amsoil. With Dons kit, there is a specific location to mount just aft of the original filter and on the frame. if you use dons kit it cannot be used with the amp Research steps. With the dual remote you don't use the cap. Its all underneath.

I dunno man. Big part of changing oil is getting everything that the oil has trapped out of the engine. Trapping particles is great and all and reduces wear, but I’m more worried about the oil becoming more acidic as the interval becomes increased. Oil with a lower pH starts to do the opposite of what you want. I’d believe it’s much easier to neutralize acids that are a result of combustion by frequent oil changes vs extra filtration. But that’s just me.

You need to do take some time please research Amsoil vs the stock filter. Amsoil specs out a very high quality filter. Most filters let oil bounce around the outside of the media Amsoil filters let’s the oil pass through the depth of the media. Like a water only hitting the outside of a paper towel roll vs the water going through the entire roll. It Impressed Gale Banks as did our gear lubes

Not a new concept really, in off-road, stationary diesel equipment it is common to run as many as 4 oil filters. 2 primaries and 2 secondaries with the same theory where the primary may be a 20-micron and the secondary may be a 10 then a 5 micron. And the oil change intervals are based on hours not miles. We also do oil samples religiously and base our oil & coolant changes on results of those samples in combination with hours. Engines, are also running coolant filters as well with SCA’s.

  • @Best-Synthetic-Oilscom

Exactly. Bypass filters on industrial engines extend overhaul intervals many times over, especially in high dirt environments.

Don installs the BMK28 Dual-Remote Bypass Filter System on a 2018 Superduty. In this video, we are discussing the Single-Remote Bypass Filter System. They both achieve the same results (cleaner oil), but I recommend the Single-Remote because it retains the larger OEM-sized full-flow oil filter. Either option is great.
