Footballer Jack Diamond Tells Piers Morgan About False Charges Hell

Ойын-сауық

EXCLUSIVE: Footballer Jack Diamond speaks to Piers Morgan for the first time since being cleared of rape and sexual assault by a girl he met on Tinder.
The Sunderland winger - currently on loan to Carlisle United - said after waiting for two years for his name to be cleared, it took the jury just seven minutes to decide on his fate.
Jack also reveals the verbal abuse he faced from the terraces on his first game back last weekend, when he came off injured in a match against Leyton Orient.

Britain prosecutes for false accusations more than most countries. Of all the rapes reported to the British police each year, LESS THAN 3% are ever successfully charged! Happened to me in the U.S. Took one year, then found not guilty. I like to say, it maligned me, altered my life, changed the entire trajectory of my life, caused unspeakable damage, but (and this is just for me), the word "ruined" hurts me as the implication is so final. My life has value, perhaps even more value than it had before the nightmare I lived through so the word ruined doesn't fit well. Again, I am only speaking for myself.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. No one believes the accusations made about me in the U.S. They were worse, yet the accuser never quite accused me. Mr. Diamond will have to decide if he wants to continue fighting for his name. I felt I had to. I'm not so sure that was the right thing to do. Like him, I received a not-guilty verdict. He is a good witness for himself. I cried listening to this interview remembering waiting for the jury, and in my case, listening to FOUR NOT GUILT verdicts, breaking down into weeping and speaking right up as if I owned the courtroom "thank you, thank you" to the jury explaining "this process has failed me every step of the way and you stopped the madness." Then I saw the judge after the trial in the hall. He said, "Sir, take good care of yourself, really, take good, good care of yourself." He too was an angel.

@@JohnnyWoodsBC True, however, my world was/is those that knew me, those that knew of me, and those that read about my case in the local papers. No one thinks I am guilty today or that is, anyone sane. There are certain people with certain cases where the not-guilty verdict flips it. I believe this is one of them. In the U.S., we are permitted to tell every aspect of our story. I have not to date put my accuser's name out in the public although I can't put into words why exactly. It's as if it doesn't really matter. Not to have mercy on her, but as a factual matter, most false accusations form, they are not typically a woman who wakes up one day and says to herself, "I think I will make a false allegation." Weak and disturbed women that are easily influenced get an idea, it is re-enforced today by friends, family, and law enforcement, and the destruction of the innocent man begins. It takes a village for an innocent man to be accused and put on trial. It's almost as if, if I put her name out, everyone else that stood by and let it happen and/or jumped on the bandwagon (police for example), will be seen as not having been responsible for their part. That said, my case and this young man's case had something in common that not all cases have in common. The cases should have never been prosecuted; they were both absurd. There are some cases where the man is falsely accused and the case seems credible until (and sadly sometimes after) the case is heard at trial. Absolutely no one thought I was guilty when my trial began, but nothing was going to stop my case unless I took a plea deal. I was offered a deal wherein if I paid the court (a secret fine) of 125 dollars (the price of a parking ticket), the case would be dropped and marked as an outright dismissal (which would have been a lie), I would not have made a plea, and the record of the arrest would be eliminated. If, however, I said no to the deal, and many other walk away from all charges deals, if found guilty if I elected to use my right to a trial, I was facing five years in state prison and would be put on sex offender registry for life. I said I want a trial, risked everything, and thankfully won. in the States, the courts are legally blackmailing you to take a deal and almost everyone does. 125 dollars vs. five years in state prison and a lifetime on a registry if convicted, that is blackmail. I know what this man is going through. Oddly enough, and this surprised me, according to several psychologists including my two, reactions to false allegations (the trauma) is surprisingly similar. I would have thought it would vary from person to person depending on the different situations but apparently the PTSD is very similar, particularly when it is complex PTSD. Unlike seeing a fellow soldier die on the battlefield, when one is suddenly and without warning falsely accused, it gets worse and worse and goes on and on and on. We are the lucky ones in that many get convicted.

@@Pebble_Collectortotally agree- finding the balance is difficult. It’s in cases like this where “innocent until proven guilty” isn’t afforded to the accused in practice. Yes, legally they’re innocent, but to have an innocent person named and shamed is trial by media. At the very least anonymity should be for all parties until a decision has been made by the courts. At which point it begs the question should the guilty party be named? It would make sense for a guilty r*pist to be named, but then, in the case of this trial, the guilty party is the woman, so should we name and shame her? It’s so difficult.
