Foose Design 1967 Chevy “C/28” Project - The Reveal! (Part 7/8)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Exclusive content for the Foose Design KZread Channel!!!
Part seven of the series reveals the final look of this custom C-10! Chip Foose walks you through the many modifications to the exterior, interior, engine, wheels/tires, bed, exhaust, grille and more and even gets the truck on the open road for a test drive.
In this eight part series Chip Foose chronicles his custom 1967 Chevy C-10 truck build, showing you projects and solutions you can apply at home along the way.
The build was inspired by an original '67 Camaro Z/28 motor Chip found years ago. He dreamt about a Camaro performance packaged C-10, offered by the factory in 1967 (hence the “C/28” moniker) and set out to create it.
The weather striping is from a 2014 Chevrolet pickup front doors and trimmed to fit.

I think the truck turned out great. And I have to say, this is one of the few vehicles done by Foose that has wheels that look good. Not going with monster 20" wheels for once is a nice change.

Old comment but I'm with you on that. Oversized wheels are the only thing that put me off foose projects and I was pleasantly surprised to see a functional, well-proportioned wheel choice on this truck. Everything else is as flawless as always with foose builds.

In 1974 I bought my first pickup truck when I got out of the USMC. The truck was a 1967 Chevrolet CST [Custom Sport Truck] short/wide bed. It came from the factory with bucket seats and a "buddy" seat in the middle, which enclosed a storage compartment beneath the seat bottom. Big back window. Very cool. Also had a factory tach, full instrumentation, A/C, power steering and power brakes. On the outside of the doors, where Foose's truck calls out Custom, mine was CST. Very cool rig.

Bud Lee, True that. Chip has the talent and drive. Glad to see him share that to us, car lovers. Foose, Leno, Tim Allen, etc have air conditioned garages full of toys. Pretty sure they have employees to do the maintenance and upkeep. I don't envy that, glad they enjoy it. Of coarse they have sponsors and make millions of dollars. Think of this. If a regular non celebrity drove a truck this nice 1 time, it would be car jacked or ran over by somebody without insurance in 1 day.

Nice C10. 25+ Years ago i took a 67 Ford F100 Ranger-352, 3 on the tree manual steering ,manual brakes. Used 3 other trucks and other vehicles to finally make one- 69 F250 Camper Special for H.D. 5 bolt suspension, Gauge package interior, under dash A.C. system. 71 F100 for the Power steering and coloum shifter, dual M.C & front disc brakes. The rear leafs out of an old "Iron side" 1 ton camper van and it's 4:10 gears. 390 and C6 trans out of a 1970 F250. Took said 390 and went and got a 67 Mercurys 410 crank shaft. Over bored the block, new rods and pistons. "14 bolt Mustang heads" basically making it into a 428 C.J. engine. Chrome front and rear thin bumpers, LOST all the mouldings. Painted it a Custom mixed Brandywine/Pinkish course metallic. Painting the cab/doors inside and out & the Aluminum grill putting in Chrome Cat eye's headlight covers. Tinted windows with add on chrome drip mouldings and rear slide window. 79 Mustang steering wheel and dual 67 Mustang Chrome side mirrors. After market Chrome tubular bed rails. Funny story. Horry County Police use to have the D.U.I check point under the "big bridge" on peachtree rd. Some police do not believe that a 67 truck came with out seat belts, day night rearview mirror, not even door locks! Use to have to carry a card in my wallet from the judge stating my truck confirmed to ALL 1967 laws pertaining to trucks. Lol

When I was a little boy in Spokane WA I used to ride my 1968 Apple Krate to Dishman Honda and Dishman Cheverolet. I would go in the Honda motorcycle store to look and actually smell the Trail 50 in Blue. I would get so excited that I would eventually throw-up outside at the SE corner of the building. I just could not help it, I wanted one just that bad. Then, off to the Chev store to see "my" cars and trucks. 67', 68', 69', and 70 oh, those were my years indeed. And while I enjoyed the full line-up, the Camaro's and C/10 Short Wide pick-ups, were there for me. The sales guys used to let me wipe down the ones on the showroom floor with cloth baby diapers. When I would show up and let's say my 1969 DZ Z/28 w/302, Muncie close ratio 4-sp, 4:11 limited-slip differential, manual steering, disc front brakes, Houndstooth interior and RADIO DELETE! (I was gonna see it race at the new Spokane International Dragway, I just knew it!) was GONE, I would go sit outside and cry. I just wanted to wipe it down one more time. And the small block C/10 4-sp, short wide, you just knew that a "Racer" was gonna buy that doggy to Drag Race cuz "those little trucks cant even carry a piece of plywood or some 2x4's, they're worthless!" said all my Uncles and my Dad. I would mutter something about them waxing their jolopies in the quarter, cuz with slicks I just knew they would turn a 12, I just knew it! Man just looking at that truck makes my stomach feel like I'm gonna throw up or cry, and im 58, the hells wrong with me? If you ever were to sell it, we I know this kid from Spokane WA that sure would like to buy it.

This is a REAL build! Most people on KZread have a company put on a new wrap, have a company put on an exhaust, and have a company tune and put on a big wing. Boom, new build complete! NOT. Chip stretched steel chrome bumpers 14 inches. By hand! Cut and weld, smooth and re-chrome. That by itself would take longer than the standard KZreadr "build". Plus, he does it all, and doesn't pay someone else to then take credit. This kind of workmanship is going away. The younger generations just don't get it or aren't interested in hard work. It's become strictly a bolt on generation. Long live the fabricators!

The differences are so subtle that from a distance you wouldn't notice them. You'd think it was just a really clean restored C/10. But when you get close and pay attention to the details they are perfection. I have a vision of building a similar car, Something that Ford never made but I feel that they should have. And it's a car that I have always wanted. I hope that someday I can put my dream car together, the way I see it in my dreams. Thanks for all that you do.
