our ol’ pal Ness, from the FNAF movie, brought up an interesting question: is breakfast really the most important meal of the day? You see, loyal Theorist, breakfast companies have been LYING to you for decades and it has caused all of us to eat wrong for years. So how did that happen? And is “Big Cereal” really to blame for all of it?

    It's nice to see the difference in cultures all over the world. I remember always getting confused in American movies when people would say breakfast is the most important meal of the day - in Brazil it was always lunch. True food, as we call: rice, bean, meat etc. I also got actually scared to learn people in the US have just half an hour of lunch in a work-day, we have at least one hour (some lucky people get even two!) Now our breakfast (here called 'café da manhã'/coffee of the morning) is mostly composed of coffee, bread if you're hungry and... just it, probably. Personality, I just drink some chocolate milk because I got kids' taste and that's it. And I actually laughed seeing the part about dinner, because for us it's literally what breakfast used to be. Just a snack, or the food we didn't eat in lunchtime. Or we repeat the food we ate for lunch, which I know now isn't really healthy.

    It's the same for Poland (and possibly most of the slavic countries)! The midday meal has always been considered to be the most important one, so finding out that it's different for the English-speaking countries felt really strange. In fact, the very name for this meal in Polish, "obiad", (supposedly) comes from the Polish verb for overeating/eating until you're full - "objadać się". It's not just the most important meal of the day, it's _the biggest_ one. Think of dinner, but instead of it taking place in the evening, it's during anywhere between 12PM to 4PM. I wouldn't even call it lunch at this point, the difference between the meals is so vast that I'm not even sure how to translate it to English.

  • @semnome9574

    @semnome9574

    8 ай бұрын

    @@ShuichiSaihara05 That's so nice! I like the way that the name of your midday meal literally says it all. And I get that thing of not being able to translate this meal to English, when I was learning English, I'd be so confused by the word "lunch". Because here, "lanche" means a sandwich, or a hamburger - basically something that we would never have for our midday meal, but Americans might - the popular translation of "lanche" is snack here, even though I don't quite agree with it. I know it's not the same thing you described, just a fun story. God bless you, bro!

    Fun fact: it’s said that the sandwich came about because the Earl played cards in the evening with those in his inner group late into the night. As MattPat pointed out he would get his staff to make him these sandwiches because he didn’t want to get the cards all gunked up from stuff like roast meats and condiments. Also didn’t mean he had to have plates and cutlery around to eat those items and generally had bread on hand anyway so he had them slice it and stack the stuff in between.

    Also it should be noted, for farmers doing manual labor in the fields, staying inside, having a giant meal, and then napping through the harshest hours of daylight was a great way to avoid heatstroke. Noonwraiths from the Witcher are actually inspired by a Polish spirit who would appear in the fields in the middle of the day, essentially making them go inside and rest before heatstroke killed them.

He was also a secondary source for lore (fanon lore while Scott himself informed the BTS “real” canon), so he had some power in the writing room. He probably didn’t have this video in mind, but he probably thought it up in that drafting room when it was suggested. So basically they went about generating a hypothetical theory that this alt universe MatPat would come up with, then MatPat actually adopted said theory in reality to make this video. It’s a chicken and the egg problem and an Ouroboros all rolled into one.

    i have alot of issues sleeping, and when i heard that eating and your sleep are linked, i deep dived into alot of this kind of stuff, which is why i ALWAYS eat something when i wake up, cus it stops me from going back to bed any time during the morning or afternoon, and i wont get tired until later in the afternoon, where dinner will hold me over until i go to sleep. eating breakfast and dinner like that and sometimes lunch in the middle helps me sustain my sleeping hours and go to bed easier. so while lunch isnt exactly an important meal of the day for me, i did happen to learn about all this stuff :D

    Here in czech republic, lunch is actually the biggest meal of the day typically. People usually eat a smaller breakfest, than a big meal at about 1pm and a smaller dinner. Work does disrupt this eating habbit often, but a lot of work places give about a hour long break to people to get lunch, usually also having a kitchen where you can get a normal (by czech standards) lunch. Seems like we are ahead of the game

    Matpat is definitely the kind of person to make a theory about his own channel.

    I've been skipping breakfast on weekends and immediately dived into work and made myself finish it before I get to eat. This type of fasting massively helped out with my productivity.

    I think the reason why Mat Pat speaks at himself in the third term is because when they were making the Fnaf movie they knew they needed him to cameo but were afraid he couldn't resist the temptation of spoiling the movie. So they used Rick's portal gun to find a version of Mat Pat that became a waiter instead of a KZreadr and had him fill the role

    According to my biology teacher it's better to eat smaller meals throughout the day, instead of three big ones. It's easier to digest and keeps your energy up all day.

    I think it *depends* greatly on your lifestyle. A farmer/homesteader in pre-industrial times would find the breakfast -- which is *not* taken on rising, but after the first two hours of work -- is indeed very important.

    Finally someone talked about this. Here in egypt we eat the same kind of food (which is usually light) for breakfast and diner and have a big harty meal for lunch as we see it as the most important meal. I always felt wierd about how people eat through out the day in the west

    I wake up at 5:00 and go to bed at 9:00; I eat at 8:00, 12:00, and 3:00, and sometimes a small snack later in the evening. I try to stop eating around 4:00, but I'm not always perfect. Some days, I eat breakfast, and some days I don't. I also fast two days out of the week, have entirely cut out soda, and limit my coffee, alcohol and tea so that I drink more water. I usually eat most of my food at midday and less in the evening. I almost completely cut out dairy in my 3rd meal, don't have coffee after 2:00, and only allow carrots and fruit before bed, as they digest quickly. This has worked great for me, but I agree that it is different for everyone. My brother, who has type 1 diabetes, can't skip a single meal and has to watch everything he eats so he doesn't go high or low, so we're ALL different.
