10:50 the problem with just punching: while it might exert more force, you’re much more likely to hurt yourself in the process
@nuh_uh210
5 ай бұрын
Yeah, this is a great lesson on force distribution, but I feel like part of that may have been that the Theorists weren’t trained to strike. Any trained boxer (and me, who’s not) can tell you that most of the damage in bare knuckle fighting will be done with your front two knuckles. In fact, striking with the full surface of your fist is a fast way to dislocate a joint. Trained strikers use their front two knuckles to significantly reduce the chance of hurting your own hand, though even that has its risks. This means that a trained boxer is basically doing the equivalent of sending their full shoulder, arm, and core strength through the surface area of two knuckles. terrifying.
@Tea_laBlue
4 ай бұрын
I was thinking that. Someone who isn’t trained is definitely gonna hurt themselves as much as the other person.

@@rabnadskubla8594 Fun fact about that, they actually appeared once before in the Tellius games (Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, where Ike and Micciah and Soren are from). There knives were lightweight low might but high crit weapons with no other real effects (also not 2-range) and the Stiletto was indeed one of the higher rank ones. I believe it was Steel or Silver tier. the first Assassin you get access to has one, and Mages had it as a weapon option (alongside Staff) to get prof with when promoting, though it was a terrible choice since it was one of the first games to split Str and Mag growth (technically it was always "Split" but mages had no access to physical damage and vice versa so Str was replaced with Mag, functionally the same stat though) and that resulted in Mages having trash Str growths and caps and the low Might of knives made them useless for them They then reappeared in a sense in Fates as the Nohrian counterpart to Shurikens, but they didn't have special names anymore like Stiletto so it's hardly worth mentioning. Engage is the real return of Knives as a weapon and HO BOY are they now amazing. Still wish you could toss them on mages though

During my high school prom, a lot of the girls on the dance floor chose to take their shoes off. We had a gruesome incident where one of them, who was wearing stiletto heels, accidentally impaled another student's foot by jumping on her. I imagine this sort of thing happens pretty often, but it was quite the shock to a room full of teenagers. On a side note, a group of a dozen or so boys got hurt from dancing on one of the tables, which collapsed. And one of my friends hit his sack while doing the worm. Crazy night.

I would like to point out that the title of this channel is "Style Theorists" meaning that it doesn't only have to be about clothing... it could be about architecture, it could be about how someone writes, it could be about practically anything... in other words... whether realizing it or not, MatPat made a way for him to keep this channel alive even when he runs out of ideas involving clothing

RIP for Amy's shoe's and for ted,ned,and fred the head.
What I wouldn’t do in a fight scenario is holding it in the end. I would hold my hand right above the knife part as that would give me more control and not have it flip away like the sandal. Not even doing that still seams effective so I would imagine it going straight through the brain as far as the heel can reach down
17:41 Amy bouncing like a giddy schoolgirl is so wholesome. It just proves that the Theorist crew is just a bunch of tall children and I love it.

I'm really glad the wedge and that chunky heel worked because my O much prefer boots-ish than stilettos.
everyone: he is going to start this channel off nice and easy. MatPat: can a shoe kill someone?
Im hoping my mom doesn't watches this video, now she's gonna switch her inventory from slippers to heels
matpat: blood isn’t blue me: are you sure about that
I like Amy's approach with the last one. Whoever's attacking you is probably taller than you, so aiming for the top of the skull may not be viable. But you know what's easier to reach and absolutely full of weak spots? The face. The goal of this as IRL self-defence isn't to kill somebody but to cause enough pain to make them back off. Even if you miss the eye there's still gonna be bruises and blood. So yeah, aim for the face. Never expected this for the final Theory Wedge, but I'm 100% on board now that it's here!

Oh honey, if you think the middle knuckle punch is the only advanced punch, you're in for a surprise. A four-finger punch is best for a strike to the throat, unless you can get close enough for a thumb punch between the collar bones.

I knew the outcome (for the stiletto at least) from the start because my mom has a story from before I was born. She was out clubbing and one guy got a bit *ahem* interested in her body. I don’t know if he had one too many drinks or was just a creep. Anyways, my mom was wearing stilettos, she felt threatened and stomped the thin part of the stiletto into the guys foot. If you’ve seen the full video you can probably guess what happened. On a different note I would love to see that video on how many shirts are required to stop a bullet.

I saw an article about a woman who got in an argument with a guy and used her shot to attack his face, which bruised him badly and could have blinded him. The main point of the article was that she didn't get the prison sentence that a guy would get had he injured a woman to a similar degree, but it does go to show that the heels are dangerous and should be treated as such.
@darklordofevil

I heard a similar story, except the guy died from the heel being stabbed into his eye,
@msk-qp6fn

I actually figured the results too just by remembering when I was stabbed in the foot by another girls' heels once. Didn't get a puncture wound but damn it hurt so bad and I had issues walking for a while that it might as well have. Also, this video showed me just why women NEED to have some kind of weapons to have any chance of self defense or thwarting threats away. The difference in the force in the punch between the girls/steph&amy and mat, and the effects they had on the skull replica with the heels visually showcased how much stronger men are on average so women are going to need some kind of weaspons fill in that handicap.
@msk-qp6fn
Жыл бұрын
@@greywolf7577re is actually a room for arguement why that was ruled the way it was. Seems unfair but the reason why the woman wasn't given a higher sentence probably has to do with women in domestic abuse or any similar situations similar enough needing to use weapons to escape. Funny thing though, in most parts of east asia there is no way the woman in question will be given a lower sentence by virtue of using a weapon and it being intentional, which many actually would say it unfair. Utterly fascinating how the world is still different enough like this despite the globalization.
Ive had a bad bang on the head that left me in hospital and watching this just brings back my pain lol
My childself after watching a SAW movie: "Yeahxthats the new trap"
Fun Fact: you tend to do this exact ballistic test with smashing a “head” to study blood spatter in forensics. It’s fun as heck and really intuitive because you see the differing patterns based on trajectory and presumed strength, which is fascinating.
